Not getting full refund because seller takes off postage costs?

Basically I bought an item that is the wrong size. It cost £300 and postage was free.

I asked to return it (which I will pay for - £8.80 at the local PO) and have told the seller I need to return it. They say they are going to take £8.80 off the refund because it cost them £8.80 to send apparently, even though postage was free when I purchased the item.

Are there any laws on this?

(not much money but it doesn't sound right)

How could postage have been free? You think they get an amazing deal?

If this is ebay, just raise a paypal complaint and you will get the full refund as the policy is to refund everything.

If this is a shop/business on ebay or otherwise, again under distance selling regulations they must give you a full refund. Ebay/Paypal will enforce this if this is through them.
 
Being an Ebay seller must be a bloody nitemare. If the OP gets his way the seller is out money through no fault of their own, I know its the rules but at times it seems so unfair. At £3 why not keep it and give it away?

Not ebay, big site, big company. I questioned the price because I thought they would have had deals with delivery companies so delivery on an item this small wouldn't have cost them so much. Obviously not.
 
He is taking the bloody urine, who on earth would complain over 80p??? Who would even bother sending a £3 item back??? :confused:

I think you should just accept this was just stupidity on your part.
