Think about it this way, the gpu and ram are much tighter together than they've ever been in the past on any other card, that's bound to create an area where there's a lot of dense heat. Obviously on standard gddr 5 cards the ram and gpu is much more spread out so the heat isn't as focused as much on a small area. The rumour is air and liquid cooled versions, obviously so far whats pictures is liquid cooled, it could be air cooled is left to third party vendors and the first influx of cards will have an aio.

So just in case the 290/290X wasn't hot enough AMD have found a way to make their cards hotter?

Well I think that's just AMD pandering to the customers and giving them what they were asking for... :)

It might not be quite as hot with the ram using lowered voltage, just have to wait and see when its reviewed :)

Arn't you people getting tired of throwing the same 2 year old joke around? i mean its not like the titan x is perfectly cool or the load temps of most aftermarket cooled 290x are higher than 75 under load, so what gives peeps? is it because its your favorite drum and you cant stop wacking that thing cause it is the only thing you know how to?

I believe it's the way things are done around here.

Like blaming Nvidia/GameWorks for games not running well on AMD cards or Nvidia cards being more expensive.

Think of it as recycling...

Actually, that joke has been going for more like 5 years and started with the GTX 480. I wouldn't worry and it isn't personal and just light hearted banter.

Gets a bit old with people recycling the same rhetoric, with info floating about on the cards and pics how about we concentrate on that. Won't be long til legit benchmarks are doing the rounds.

Like i said, keep them out of these threads, simple. It gets boring gong from thread to thread to see the same crap brought up time and again.

Thoughts about why Nvidia are releasing the GTX980Ti prior to the 390X ?

(This can be asked in both threads so don't bash me for it)

a) R9-390X > GTX980Ti (Nvidia are scared on losing sales)
b) GTX980Ti > R9-390X (Nvidia get in more sales prior and after 390X launch)
c) Irrelevant business as usual maybe

I think they have a spy or two and contacts ofcourse, so if the 390X is @ Dice (and who knows where else) somebody might have informed them on performance.

Is i confirmed that the ti will be released before it? Really just a way to try and steal the 390's thunder, but at the same time i think anyone remotely interested in tech will wait and see what the new amd card brings to the table.

Not officially confirmed, just some rumours (videocardz-wccftech) going around like usual. I think though that they might be spot on. (gut feeling ofcourse)
