Is i confirmed that the ti will be released before it? Really just a way to try and steal the 390's thunder, but at the same time i think anyone remotely interested in tech will wait and see what the new amd card brings to the table.

Yeah, odd that they'd release before really. You'd think at the minute they have the sales lead (having newer cards) and would want to release the Ti just after AMDs launch to win back media coverage ASAP. Much like I think they did with the 780Ti didn't they? You'd think releasing before would be risky as people might hold off to see AMDs new cards. hyping now and releasing after AMD might make people hold off getting the AMD cards until they've seen the 980Tis...
Unless they have something else planned for that? Some dual GPU board or something?

I do agree seeing the same argument over and over gets boring. I trust you've not posted in the GameWorks/HairWorks thread for that very reason?

Maybe they dont think the ti will match up to the AMD cards so tehyre getting some sold quick before its too late. :)

Not sure if i've posted in there or not, not played any of the games these things supposedly affect so don't give a monkeys either way. :p

this line of thought that Boom has is just bonkers, because you only ever upgrade if the next card is a lot more powerful. the only thing Titan X needs is another Titan X or a 390X2.

the 390X is for someone whose on mid range card looking for an upgrade

I get why you could see it that way but I disagree, enthusiasts want the fastest card period. I always like to get the best hardware regardless of what brand it is. Obviously if you're not chasing the high end then you have a different train of thought. If I didn't care about performance I would still be running a 7970. There is a reason we all upgrade..

An enthusiast upgrades to whatever is fastest and then moves on to the next rinse and repeat. That way of been doing it has been fine but recently I'm getting worried about the rising cost.

Plus I've been getting more disappointed with both camps, lack of driver support (Updates less frequent) from AMD and Nvidia's just general dodgy tactics all round.

Has me wandering if I should just ditch chasing the high end, and maybe try console.. I don't think I can settle for console though (Never settle).

I def consider myself an enthusiast, I do like the latest stuff. I don't care whether that's Green or Red and don't fly a flag for either company like some do here. Both camps could both do a lot better in a bunch of ways. I will just go with whoever has best hardware, right now it's Nvidia, hopefully AMD can raise the bar even more.

If AMD have cards that are faster and cheaper it makes sense to move to those for me. Sell my current stuff and move on, but then I'm an enthusiast, I don't buy cards to polish them and put them on the mantle piece to keep forever :p

Ask yourself if you guys aren't interested in the latest tech etc, why are you in this sub section at all? ;)

There's a difference between being interested and buying for no other reason than keeping up with others here. You say you're an enthusiast but I rarely see you striving for top scores in the bench threads.

That bit about flying the flag gave me a chuckle as well, you fly the flag for whatever brand you're currently using and have had signatures in the past showing so and others have commented on your bias to the side you currently use.

i dont benchmark, i think im still a enthusiast!? even if i dont have the best hardware or pink fingers from fiddling with watercooling all day!?
maybe he's just excited about a new sexy looking gfx card coming out :) who can blame him hehe, id say thats enthusiast!

An enthusiast is anyone that buys something thats far and above more than what they need. Did I really need 2 x 780TI cards? Do I need my 5820k CPU? Nope, but I made plenty of excuses as to why I needed them. Already started my excuses for AMD 390X or the 980Ti, I don't need either... but I know ill have one of the 2 within the couple of months :)

I only bother with benchmarks to make sure I'm getting around the right level of performance. I don;t worry about posting my results or anything.

I consider myself an enthusiast even though I don't water cool or enter many bench results ( I always seem to lose the lottery even when I go for what's meant to be cherry picked (780 Classified?)) I also have money limitations to take into consideration.

enthusiast - a person who is very interested in and involved with a particular subject or activity

in the context of gpu technology, theres no direct correlation with benchmark placement imo. If anything i would say a gpu technology enthusiastic is more likely to be using his knowledge to get the most for least..so unlikely to be at top of benchmarks.

Yep this is more the enthusiast which has nothing to do with bank balance and which hardware you own. You could have a basic PC but know the in's and out's of it's working due to being enthusiastic about learning all you can about said hardware. Usually this is about how to get the best out of your hardware so you don't need to pay the big bucks. I get sick of hearing you need to have a great machine to be an enthusiast.

All of us here are GPU enthusiasts, why else would we be reading and posting on a GPU related forum on the internet. ;)

Posted without even a sense of irony, poor Boom.
When you own Nvidia, you're pro nvidia anti amd. When you own amd the opposite is true, laughable to watch.

You can tell whats in your machine based on posting styl.

I know you keep pushing this narrative Tonester. I'm pretty open about how I feel about both camps. Your constant trolling is beyond dull. Approaching creepy stalker at this point..

Do what I did and just slap him on ignore, then give him the Gremlin treatment (No matter how much it cries, or begs, don't feed it after midnight).

I don't bench, that's news to me.
