just migrated out of firefox to opera, firefox is a complete dog now. i have about 12 plugins on there, none of them affect the gui much at all so there should not be a significant operating overhead on it.

my main gripe was with flash crashing endlessly throughout the day, also noticed some basic websites which dont use many cpu hogging actions run quite slow on firefox. my wordpress admin section seems to slow down firefox so i am now using opera which seems to work fine.

it just seems to be reskinned chrome though?? anyone know if its just chrome?

Firefox has definitely been going downhill lately - I've not had any crashes on my Windows 7 PCs with it but I've had 2 on my Windows 8 tablet so far since the latest update and its definitely struggling with content heavy sites a lot more than it used to.

Mine has been fine but a number of my plugins have stopped working and it's getting to me. I can't be bothered to start using a different browser :(

Buggered Firefox off a year ago and moved to Chrome and quite happy with it. Although lately it's been freezing a lot where I have to CTRL ALT DELETE out of it and when I try starting it up again, it just hangs. Then it's PC reboot time. IE isn't even an option. Might give Opera a try.

Yeah was a big firefox fan a couple of years back then i discovered chrome and haven't looked back to firefox.

Chromes starting to get tedious but i don't know where to turn next :(

Can confirm, Firefox is not what it used to be. I would use Chrome, but trying to get it to work without displaying all text as cleartype is a pain so Firefox it is.

I used to like firefox but agree that it has gone seriously downhill. I have to use chrome at work and am growing to like it. at home i'm a Safari user. but then even safari ported to windows is crappy. :-/

TBH, I think I've just had my fill of Chrome as well. Right now every time I open a new tab, it doesn't seem to connect to the internet. I'm very much connected as I'm loading webpages sitting on my Bookmarks and making this post but any new tabs just don't connect.

Going to try Opera. Literally my last hope.

I think the main problem causing Firefox crashes is Flash, I noticed it crashed more often when I was on Youtube (before FF supported MSE) and Twitch. Moved over to Chrome and found it far more stable, probably because of PPAPI vs NPAPI.

I've been using Firefox since 3.6 and I remember it being a revelation from IE, now... not so any more :(.

Yeah firefox has become a memory hog and crashes a lot for me. I guess I do open lots of tabs but even when I close all of them down it still shows as using 2GB+ of memory in taskmanager.

I moved from firefox to chrome ages ago, however with chrome stopping silverlight support I thought I would give firefox another try. It has crashed on me more in the last couple of weeks than chrome has in the last 5 years. Now I use firefox for sky go and chrome for everything else

Firefox got dropped when they introduced that awesomebar a few years ago..... Thanks for quick listing the hidden websites without warning!

Been pretty solid for me,one thing however having hardware acceleration disabled is always better then having it enabled on FF.
