Asus Rampage V Extreme Mobo audio vs Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus 7.1 PCI-E Soundcard

Shivy means what heaphones and/or what speakers.

If you have good headphones and/or speakers, I'd go with the Phoebus. If you're using a cheap headset or cheap speakers, then the onboard audio will likely be good enough.

both will work the rog would probably out peform the expansion board but not by much.

STX would be a better option unless you need a 7.1 soundcard.

I already have the ROG in my current machine, when I buy the new computer I will transfer it over, not sure I want to be spending more money on a STX sound card when the ROG (at least from my experience of it) is good enough.

Oh well, I will have to try it out myself when I get the new machine, I was hoping I could avoid having to open it up to add hardware on the new machine.
