All,

So I had my Nexus 5 which I loved. It was absolutely perfect. I loved everything about it...apart from the battery. Having to charge it multiple times a day was getting annoying. I'm a heavy user of my phone, and possibly going to be heavier when I get a Smartwatch in the not too distant future.

Anyway, moving on, I got myself a Nexus 6, it seemed like a logical upgrade. And whilst it's a cracking phone with a delicious screen, the size of it and the weight are getting on my ***'s and I've had it a month!

I got the phone for a good deal, so could resell on for what would most likely be a profit. Lets say I got £330-£340 for the phone, I need one that fits the following requirements with that as a budget.

  • Battery - it needs to be substantial. I dont want to travel to the airport and find I'm already at 50% in the morning and be worrying about whether or not I'll have charge on the other side.
  • Android or iOS. Would prefer Android though.
  • Size & Weight. Having tried a phablet it just isn't for me. Having to use both hands for texting is frustrating. Plus the weight is annoying as well.

What it basically boils down to is I want a Nexus 5 with a better battery life.

Have at you good folk of OcUK. What say you?

Thanks I'll take a look. What realistic figures can I expect from either? Do you have any experience with them.

I've heard good things about the Z3 as already pointed out.

It's true that the iPhone 6+ is big but once you get used to it and the experience the benefits of the extra screen, it's worth the jump.

However, the 7 should be a beast and smaller with the same size screen.

I don't like having to use both hands to text. The Nexus 6 is a similar size to the 6 plus, quite simply I'm finding it too big for my girly hands. I want a smaller phone :p

OK Z3 compact seems to fit the bill, thanks very much for the suggestion. I can also get this free from Three from them giving me some nice pocket change from selling the Nexus 6.

Plan, formulating!

My mates just done N5 to Z3 for pretty much the same reasons you say. He is happy enough. I love mine, but I'm suffering a slow charging issue which is the main thing for me that lets it down - but I'm trying to determine whether this is normal or not, some people seem to have theirs charge in 2 hours but I can't get mine under 4 even with a 2A BB charger. Something to bear in mind IMO as its all very well having decent battery life, but if the thing takes an age to charge, that makes a dent in its own way.
