Hi guys. Time for my renewal in a couple of weeks. Online quotes are always a bit meh for me and I tend to save £150 on average easily by calling around modified car specialists and of course list all mods as declared, just loads cheaper than results from comparison sites.

Are there any new hot companies doing the business I need to know about?

I've filtered my best results down over the years to:

Adrian Flux
Sky
A-Plan
Brentacre
Chris Knott
Greenlight

Some other places like Footman James (from memory) and Michael someone, crap for me, high quotes.

Any others I should perhaps give a call?

Keith Michaels are the only other company in addition to your list that have been any good for me on my 200SX.

They could be the one you're thinking of though :)

Yeah those are the guys, consistently poor for me so I've crossed them off my list :(

I kept seeing something on Facebook a bit ago, Prestage or Priviledge or something?

I would definitely go with Brentacre - if they are competitive. Their policy for not charging you anything for adding on mods that don't cause a substantial power increase has saved me a lot over the past year.

are you not a member of any owners clubs?
Most have some form of forum sponsor affair and club discounts.

I know on the mazda forum we get discount with 3 of the ones you've mentioned above.

Which Mazda forum out of curiosity?

Recently purchased a 6 but haven't really came across any decent owners forums for Mazda.

this is pretty much standard across all performance orientated specialists.

Sky and Greenlight have both offered me this in the past.

Brentacre are both great and hopelessly useless at the same time.

They flat out refused to swap my insurance from an MX5 to an Impreza WRX I was thinking of buying yet they will insure me on an MX5 turbo with 250bhp for £750 a year

Sounds like the underwriter doesn't cover Subarus? It's also plausible that they won't swap you mid policy but would broker a deal with another underwriter should you come as a new customer.

Only addition to your original list I would suggest is Sainsbury's as a few DC5 owners have had some very good quotes from them!

NSRA ftw

I think they use classicline. £140 for my race spec mk1 escort this year and about £120 for a 68 Dodge Dart.

A-Plan wanted £400+ this year due to changes

Not heard of those before... My milage is declared @ 15k and not quite a classic so I usually get not so good results from specialists who're good with awesome motors like you have there! :D

So much for specialists in modified cars, 3 of them haven't even been able to give me a quote on my car! Hoping A-Plan can come through again like last year.
