If you own an Asus X99-S or similar motherboard could you do me a favor please.
1. Post your Motherboard version
2. Post your BIOS version
3. Let me know if you have a BIOS entry for ASMedia USB3 Controller in the Advanced>On Board Devices section. It should be 1/2 way down the page.
My manual states that it be there, the internet also states it should be, the Asus driver site also has the drivers for the ASMedia USB3 controller, but it is completely missing from my motherboard. I have tried all versions of BIOS and it is still completely missing.
I am wondering whether I have a faulty motherboard and hence my bad USB experience. In particular a faulty ASMedia USB controller and hence it not showing in the BIOS or whether Asus have changed the BIOS. I have searched google high and low and cannot find an answer.
Many thanks for those that can help and post there results.

1. ASUS X99-S v1.03 - Note sticker X99-S on board covering what was printed on PCB.
2. BIOS v1702
3. Entry missing
I've just done a new build with this motherboard and I am experiencing the same problem.
Like some others I updated the BIOS to v1702 from a USB stick prior to full assembly, as the Intel PCIe SSD I had for the OS was not supported on v1103 of the BIOS. On entering the BIOS screen on first boot the ASMedia USB Controller was listed under advanced - On Board Devices section. After setting up the BIOS I continued to install the OS and drivers.
After I had been using the PC for a few days I noticed that my scanner and webcam wasn't doing it's usual function check on OS boot. I looked in the device manager to find that all the devices connected to the ASMedia blue USB ports on the back of the motherboard had the yellow exclamation marks against them.
Looking at the driver details under general showed under device status that 'windows could not start this hardware due to an error in the registry or the driver is not installed'. Reinstalling the driver made no difference so seeing that the problem was all the ASMedia USB ports I tried to reinstall the USB driver. The installer came back with 'could not find the ASMedia USB controller' so I rebooted into the BIOS, advanced - On Board Devices section. The ASMedia USB Controller was now missing.
Looked as though I had a faulty board and had to RMA it. Replacement came, rebuilt PC again. Booted into the BIOS - ASMedia USB controller was still missing and when booted into OS it still showed errors for devices on the ASMedia USB ports.
Tried reinstalling the ASMedia USB 3.0 Controller driver from the CD - still no luck. Only option now was a full wipe of drive and a OS reinstall.
This I did and I now have functional blue USB ports on the back of the motherboard again. tried installing the ASMedia USB 3.0 Controller driver from the CD and it still errors out with 'could not find the ASMedia USB controller'.
I don't know how they are working or whether they are running at USB3 speeds, all I do know is that the setting for the controller in the BIOS is missing.
Is there a problem with the BIOS?
Update
Emailed ASUS and they said if the setting is missing in the BIOS and that I have tried updating and downgrading the BIOS to RMA it again. This will be the second RMA for the same type board. I have never had this problem with faulty boards until this build. Perhaps I have been lucky but I wouldn't expect this sort of problem on a board costing over £200.
Update2
I've given up with the ASUS X99-S and decided to go for a refund and get an ASUS X99-Deluxe.
My 'S' did look as though when it was made it was a higher model that was then stripped of features and re-labelled an 'S'. Looking on the underside of the board I thought I spotted fresh solder joins around the rear I/O
Update3
New ASUS X99-Deluxe motherboard arrived today. re-installed into case, ASMedia USB3 Controller now showing in BIOS v1702.
It took 2 X99-S boards and then a change to X99-Deluxe. Job now done and dusted.
