Hi all,

I want one of the above, the ones you see people drinking from on the train early in the morning when they're in their pre-coffee zombie like state.

Why? Because I spend a fortune at Starbucks to get myself out of said pre-coffee zombie like state which seems a bit silly when I have a decent coffee machine at home :p

Anyone used any? Any recommendations? :)

Ta very much!

That's what they're called? The coffee hasn't quite kicked in yet. (See my first post about zombies :p )

Any recommendations?

haha :D I know the feeling. Normally takes 2 coffees before I'm functional :p

They're all the same really, but I've posted a link above. What ever you get, make sure you get a rubber grip as per below, as the cup will get hot:

I also find the ceramic mugs better insulated and keep the contents hotter for longer.

I actually have one of these and use it daily :)

I use a Rolson one (currently £2.99 on Amazon - search for "Rolson travel mug"). I come with a car holder which is why I bought it. My 55 plate Astra only has a single cup holder and that's in the glove compartment (genuis bit of planning that).

Anyway, I tried various mugs and the Rolson one was the only one that didn't result in me having tea drips dowen my shirts. They're mainly plastic (with a metal outer casing) but the survive for a good while being dishwashed nightly until, eventually, the base plastic goes. They can still be used by look awful then. Luckily I bought 8 about 3 years ago when they were £1 each in my local Tesco. I've just opened my fifth and sit drinking from it as I type. :)

It's amazing. You put a liquid of your choice into it, and it tells you what it is! You know, just in case you forgot.

haha, that's amazing!

Smart Mugs...

I never thought I'd see the day :p :D

Besides, I don't need a 'Know-it-all Mug' to tell me I drink too much caffeine, I know this already :p

.....but who's the mug?? ;)

Do they come with a way of sealing the lid? If not, what do you do when you've finished drinking and there's just dribbles left? Carry it around or stick it in your bag for it to leak the dribbles?

Talking about having your morning coffee when you get up, there was an article on the news this morning......a quick google uncovers this

Many coffee drinkers roll out of bed and get their daily dose of java as soon as possible. Because of the way coffee affects our bodies, though, there may be more ideal times to drink it.

Neuroscience PhD student Steven Miller explains that in the mornings (between the hours of 8 am and 9 am) our cortisol levels are at their highest. Cortisol isn't just the "stress hormone"—it's also correlated with our alertness levels.

So if we drink coffee at the same time our alertness is already at its peak, we're wasting the potential alertness boost we get from the caffeine:

The most effective time to have a cup of joe, Miller says, is between 9:30 am and 11:30 am. (Between noon and 1 pm and between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm are other times cortisol levels rise, so you might want to avoid drinking coffee during those hours.)

Yeah Science, bitch :p

the contigo mugs i posted have a little button, which allows the liquid out when you press it. :D it also has a lock button for when you do put it in your bag. (so the button doesn't get accidentally pressed)

edit: forget those travel mugs that look like your standard coffee shop take away cups. they're rubbish.

ok that is actually really cool but charging my mug... really.... what next, a fork that tells you what you've picked up and its nutritional value?

As for the OP, can't really offer an opinion as I don't use one, I've got a tassimo machine next to my desk!

You could do a lot worse than get yourself a Zojirushi. Available from Amazon with some reviewers claiming they have kept liquids hot for hours. Missus bought one recently and has been very happy with it.

How can they predict morning cortisol levels. If I work nights and go to bed at 5am are my cortisol levels the same as someone who went to bed at 11pm and up at 7am.
