Mad Max: Fury Road

the whole feminist angle on this...seems to me a way of just getting your wife to go and see a daft action movie!..great way to spend a bit of time being entertained by proper stuntwork!

It was a lot better than what I thought it would, beautifully shot too. Wasn't expecting anything ground breaking in terms of dialogue or story but it was a good action film.

As for the whole feminist angle,

I'll be seeing this next week hopefully after my exams :o
I haven't seen the previous ones, is it recommended to do that first?

The action in Transformers is incomprehensible - you could achieve the same effect by throwing pots and pans around the kitchen with a strobe light on.
Nicely put :p

I didn't.. I don't think you miss anything as it's sort-of a reboot/different universe type thing going on. I am intrigued to see them though.

Well I watched this last night (2D) and thought it pretty much ticked all the boxes of what I expected it to be.

I was quite amazed at the minimal dialogue in the film, in fact I couldn't have even identified what accent Tom Hardy's character was supposed to have, such was the number of his lines!

That said it had brilliantly choreographed action sequences and some brilliantly constructed vehicles.

If someone was after complicated storylines or bringing in Max's family past (referenced but anyone that hadn't seen the original wouldn't get it) then it was not a great film but given the very basic storyline in the first place and the different angle to the story I think it was good.

FrenchTart - there was definitely a nod to Masterblaster with the #2 in charge (only appeared a couple of times).

Saw this on Wednesday at the BFI Imax, brilliant film, utterly draining though, I felt like i'd had a bucket put over my head and someone had banged it for 2 hours.

Great movie. One of my favourites for a while I think.

Also ******** to the feminist stuff. So far off the mark its untrue. If it were a feminist movie all those model wives would have been replaced with "curvy" 400lb women, they wouldn't have had the washing scene and they certainly wouldn't be milking women lol.

That baby thing will haunt my dreams :(.

What a let down this was. A genuinely terrible film. How it's been rated so highly is beyond me. I almost walked out of the cinema about an hour in. Dreadful.

You're half right. The milking is part of the system they're trying to destroy, so that fits. Their appearance just about fits, in the vein of eugenics and choosing the most attractive people as breeding stock. The way they dress and he washing is a bit ropey, though, as that crosses over into how they're presented to the audience for our enjoyment, at which point the form starts to be at odds with the content.

I think you're probably going to have to expand on that viewpoint a little...

I thought it was over rated. Two scenes and nothing that spectacular, i think there was two explosions through out the whole film and the they even skipped the explosion at the last scene. It was basically Theron driving a truck around.

i could not agree more with you mate, i think the people that liked it must not have seen enough good action films!
