980 owner, go 980 SLI, or sell towards new cards?

Had a go just to see the market value of 980s, and asked for £400... no interest yet on my G1 Gaming model.

Why would anyone pay £400 for your G1 when you can get the same model new for ~£450 (and that's just from punching that model into google and looking at the first few results) and when you can get decent new 980's for near the £400 mark anyway.

That's why I tried £400 first to see if anyone was silly enough!

The 980 could suffer a fairly sharp drop in value like the 680 compared to the 780. That relies a lot on the price of the 980Ti being under $700 though. We can speculate all we want about price even though we will only know for sure at release. At the end of the day with the 980Ti due in two days theres not much time to get rid of the 980 so you may as well see what it brings to the table.

I doubt it will fall that much (ie to the £300 mark or less) otherwise it will cannibalise 970 sales and i doubt the 970 will drop much. I reckon the 980 will get a ~£50 price cut so they may start at about £350.

well lets see whats the price if its 500 and in ireland you can get around 350 - 360 quid for 980 maybe if its more then it is not worth it .

Yeah even Gibbo said the 970 won't get a price cut, he sells thousands of them. He did say the 980 needs a price cut though.

It's more £320 second hand

No way in the world would I be paying £320 for a used 980. Another £100 or so and I could have a new one, full warranty, full life ahead of it, safe in the knowledge that it hasn't be OC'd to melting point, etc etc.

On Ebay, I am seeing them for around £300. Subtract 10% from that and you will have the real price, so around £270. Now I might pay that for a used GTX 980.

With that said, I do realise that there are lots of silly people on the likes of Ebay who pay well over the odds. However, these people are definitely in the minority. The majority of folks on Ebay are wanting to peddle their old crap for top dollar and/or extort other members quality goods out of them for firesale prices. The end result is lots of mindnumbing haggling , shill bidding, and insulting offers and counter offers.

Believe me, if you want your used GTX 980 to sell, then £270 is the fair market price.
