** GTX 980TI Out Now **

It doesn't have the value it did when you can achieve most of the performance for significantly less.

Less being the key word :p. I don't think the cost really bothers TITAN owners, honestly. Least not the majority.

Absolutely, I knew i'd make a loss on it as soon as I bought it. Still get a decent price for it though I'm sure. Like I said there will be people out there wanting one to go SLI, Tri, Quad etc.

On a side note, I've just seen the MSI Gaming 980TI's appear on the website after I ordered the Classifieds, is there a way of changing the order or is it through email / phone etc?

It's a working theory but then there's the devils advocate argument that they are releasing them in order to grab more market share before AMD play their hand.

Personally, for me it would take AMD and the 390x to be around 30% quicker than the top end NVidia stuff before I'd even contemplate going back to AMD. I had CF 290x for about 7 months and got so annoyed with their complete disregard for the end user with the 'ready when it's ready' line on the drivers and lack of CF support.

However, I do want them to pick up their game because NVidia is very expensive if you want to keep up with the latest gpu etc. Could really do with (is it colourful?) the Chinese company breaking in to EU/US.
Well I think we know that's a bit of a strange expectation because it's just unrelistic. Could happen but expecting 30% difference above what the market leader offers just to even look at it? I agree the support could be better but even a single card if as good as a ti should be decent enough at powering most games so it could just go solo card instead of expecting crazy performance? Ah well, your choice because they are both good manufacturers in my eyes but I just don't like seeing Nvidia gain a monopoly as most people are smart enough to know where that leads. Even with a massive lead they still pulled the TX and TI stunt just now which surely left those who didn't buy the TX straight at launch with a bit of buyers remorse.

Either way, half a month is nothing. Not saying don't buy Nvidia but just do it when you know what the other side can offer too.

If NVidia destroy AMD the way that 3dfx went, good luck getting a high end gpu for a reasonable price ever again. Furthermore, good luck with any fast advances in technology. No competition is not a good thing.

Pretty decent prices there. I'll wait a week or so before ordering. Need to shift my current cards.

Sorry but if the 390x is 20% faster than the ti/tx you would have to e rampant green fanboy to ignore it. AMD drivers are fine bar a few issues with xfire and badly coded gameworks titles.

LOL I definitely don't expect 30% increase, I was just alluding to the fact that it would take that much of a jump up for me to consider red again. I agree in that I hope they do well to with the Fiji stuff but I think they've had such a long gap between 290x - 295x - 390x whilst nvidia have flooded the market with the 900 series and Titan that even if Fiji is second to none, I can't see them taking a significant chunk of the market back this year. They need something special and sadly I don't see the 390x being the saviour just yet.

It's all if's and but's at the moment. I suspect they probably will be at the very least slightly better than 980TI and TITAN but my concern is they've been in hiding too long to have any significant impact on the market share.

That said I sincerely hope they do fantastically well, everyone is aware that competition is key for the consumer and if AMD don't pull something sensational with price x performance against green team the consumer will suffer no end.

Got to agree there's something in it andy, 780Ti came after 290X to spoil the party, this ones priced more along 780 launch price instead of Ti pp, Nvidia obviously know how fast Fury is.

Saying all that, you can't get that performance today for that price-at the end of the day 980Ti is a fantastic piece of kit.

Let's fantasise this for a moment. What if HBM is truly ground breaking? what if it puts the 390x, say, the guesstimated 15% faster than the Titan X, going on it being as quick as a 295x2 with full Crossfire support.

What do Nvidia have, on the table and ready to launch that could possibly combat it? nothing, that's what. I'm going to assume that HBM would need a new core and can't simply be bolted onto Maxwell.

In all my years I have only ever seen Nvidia panic once. And that was when Fermi was dog turd and they actually had to resort to cutting out the middle man and boxing up and selling their own brand of GTX 460, the only early Fermi card that was worth buying.

This 980ti launch just smacks of panic, though. Usually Nvidia would have pulled a snide and waited for the 390x, then simply launch their card at the same price (Nvidia tax that AMD can't charge) or even under cut the AMD which would be the first time I have EVER seen Nvidia charge less for a card performance wise over the AMD. They always add their £50 premium tax on and people pay it.

So why launch a GPU that's 40% cheaper than the Titan X when the Titan X has absolutely no competition whatsoever? why release a card that, let's face it, makes a complete mockery of the Titan X and any one who bought it because 6gb is absolutely bleeding PERFECT for the market.

Something really, really fishy is going on here. Nvidia know something we don't. Also, just look at how bloody fast they have hit the shelves !! the Titan X was launched then took weeks to become available to buy.

As I said, I would tread very, very carefully unless you're the sort of person who has to have it right now and simply can't control yourself. Or you have a bank balance big enough to keep taking a slapping.

Couldn't help but notice the same thing. I'm after a single card solution but not desperate enough to buy one of these right now. If nothing else there's the potential for more price drops when AMD release their card.

I complained about crossfire but that is my only complaint about AMD. If there's no profile you just have to use a single card and I've never had a problem with that, it just irritates me when I have to drop a few settings to get a smooth frame-rate, all while knowing that my second card is sat there not doing a thing.

Honestly those who can't control themselves are going to regret this either way it pans out. If the AMD is faster and the same price they'll regret it, if it's close and causes prices to plummet they'll regret it.

Either way it's really silly to buy a 980ti unless you hate AMD so much that you will gladly accept a price drop/that you own a slower card.

Me? couldn't give a toss who makes what. I want the best card my money can buy.

Then of course there's the drawn out price war/bundles and so on. I'm going to wait until all is said and done because it's going to be a while before anything truly new comes along and I want it all out there in the open before I hand over any money. When I bought my Titan Blacks there was nothing better, and it took seven months for the 970 and 980 to come along so I would have died waiting. And if I'd waited I would have been incredibly disappointed that they were barely faster and actually had less VRAM.

Wait, people. Even if you want the Nvidia that's fine, but I assure you they won't be this price any more come July.
