The perfect monitor!

Never really been a fan of Asus monitor design though, the back looks weird what is that? Plus the gimmicky red lights as usual.

From the article.

What is the refresh rate?

At this time 60Hz, currently to reach beyond this refresh rate a panel needs to be developed in this aspect ratio and resolution as well as designed to operate at this high refresh rate. Beyond this due to the increased resolution there are bandwidth limitations with the current DP implementation. As the unit support G-SYNC the G-SYNC controller currently can not support the new DP 1.3 specification which would allow for near 4K or 4K+ resolutions at refresh rates higher than 60Hz.

Currently using a 120hz asus but would consider sacrificing it for an ultrawide gsync ips.

looks good and could be very tempted, however, three things:

- going to cost a fortune
- 60HZ only, not a massive issue but we have 3440x1440 75HZ screens coming soon...
- and well.... it's by asus :p

And lol at this comment:

IPS based panel for superior color reproduction, black levels and reduction of color shifting

Just no :p

That comment should only be used for VA monitors....

It will be interesting to see if these suffer from awful bleed and glow issues like the lg and dell 34" monitors.

this too!

That's weird. I assumed if this was 60Hz than it had to be an "old" panel by LG, while the Acer has the newer ones by AUO. If that's the case, well we already know what we get. Gsync is indeed a cool plus though but if that's an excuse to sell it for 999£..... meh

Also, the name has been reported already to be PG34Q

If this is 60Hz they clearly haven't been paying attention at all to the feedback of PC enthusiasts. WE DON'T WANT THIS! Get busy figuring out how to make 120/144Hz work!!

I must be getting old, the design of this stand and a few other monitors and peripherals over the last year or so do absolutely nothing for me. They look like something a teenager would think is amazing, like a severed limb from a transformer robot. Can't we have normal designs without flashing lights and crazy plastic rubbish stuck on, I thought these gimmicks left the PC scene ten years ago? :(

Yeah the design is dreadful, however if they provide a 120/144mhz g-sync 34" IPS 1440, monitor this is the monitor I will buy.

Blinky lights or not.

the display manufacturers are limited by the panels available in the market, not to mention bandwidth limitations of providing 3440 x 1440 @ 120/144Hz.

There aren't any IPS-type panels with high refresh rate other than the 27" 2560 x 1440 panel used in models like the ACer XB270HU and Asus MG279Q. There's a new 35" AU Optronics AMVA panel which is 2560 x 1080 @ 144Hz but getting 3440 x 1440 @ 144Hz is another question! especially from IPS panels. LG.Display dont even have any current 144Hz IPS panels in their lineup, and they're the only ones with 34" widescreen IPS-type panels at the moment
