^^ So far it looks like I'll be using TX until 8GB HBM cards arrive, or maybe I'll just skip Fiji and wait until 14nm cards next year. I do really like this TX, I just wish I had the Hybrid version.

Nvidia's CEO just flat out said that HBM was to expensive (Nvidia's profits must be huge) to put on their GPU's this year and that HBM 2 would bring better pricing.

So 4GB HBM for AMD might be really pricey and they don't want to come straight out with 8GB due to cost, and pricing VS competition.

This is the same when they said they skipped the console business on purpose...yeah sure..
AMD worked with Hynix on HBM so they have the priority on HBM.

tbh, Aldi and Lidl are currently taking the other supermarket chains to the cleaners.

Get the basics from Aldi / Lidl, then go to Waitrose / M&S for the items where quality makes a difference.

Well some of your posts come across as being annoyed :p In the previous 980ti thread when people were saying things like TX killer, wow TX owners must be annoyed etc. you were posting and defending the TX and TX users, at least that is how your posts came across to me anyway...

Surely your comment, "I'll never go for a titan brand card again" says it all? If you didn't care and were happy with the titan brand/card, then why say that?

And yes there are a few people who genuinely don't seem to care but I honestly can't believe that they don't care "at all" unless money really isn't an issue at all for them or they just love nvidia no matter what.

I think if the TX had been out for a good bit longer, the annoyed tx owners wouldn't have minded as much, 2 months (?) is an incredibly short time even for the tech. world.

There are other forums where people are posting about them being ****ed at what nvidia have done, will link later as I am posting this from my phone.

EDIT:

and yes, I doubt you will see many TX owners selling their card(s) on (at least not on the likes of the MM on here) for a couple of reasons:

- they will make a huge loss "overall"
- no need to as the card is still a better performer overall, even if the difference is extremely minor atm...

Nah I was more annoyed at those who were using the 980ti thread to just bash TX owners, they seemed a little insecure when they have to find any opportunity they can get to criticise purchases other users have made with their own money?

My comment about not buying a Titan branded card again doesn't say it all, it's just now I know that in future nVidia won't wait so long between the Titan and the cut down card.

They won't make a huge loss, it's more like £100, not much more than the losses you make after a few month of owning any card bought brand new at launch.

This is likely why first cards are only 4GB. Availability and cost.

Huang on HBM,

Huang said that for now HBM is too expensive and in limited availability, but "in the next year or so we'll be able to take advantage of that technology." Nvidia's next-generation Pascal GPU will most likely be manufactured on a 16nm FinFET process with up to 32GB of HBM2.

Huang on 980 Ti,

"quiet and cool" with no need for liquid cooling, Huang joked.

Shots fired lol.

Why even try to compete with 980 at this point. AMD is a year late to that game.

Go compete with Titanx and 980ti

Has anyone ever thought to think what is taking AMD so long to release a single card?

are they having issues with HBM? One would think release a 380x or so. Give them some time to work more on 390x while still getting sales.

Or even release the 390x or whatever they will call it and then work on something more powerful. Just use the NVIdia model of releasing cards.

4GB, <400 Watts, between a 980 and a 980TI.

If that is right, and it seems incredibly backwards to me....

AMD should not bother with HBM at this point, clearly its adding nothing but expense and lack of capacity.

There is 0 Power savings, and 0 performance benefit.

A 3200 shader Tonga GPU with 8GB of GDDR5 will put it around the same performance for less cost and probably less power.

Either that rumour is as far out as it looks to me, or AMD are about to go under having got it horribly wrong.

Wouldn't worry, when GTX 980 Ti fever dies down, and peeps realize Nvidia's next high end GPU isn't until next year, desire for Titan X will start up again. Pascal is a long way off and desire for something better will creep in before the end of the year.

Now is the worst time to sell a TX. Just enjoy the extra vram, full GM200 chip. Cooler running card and better colour, once you go black you never go back :p

their premium peperoni pizzas are the best of all the supermarkets..

Yeah they may taste as good as the best out their but their pizza bases offer poor support for the cheese and toppings. What's the point of all that P̶e̶r̶f̶o̶r̶m̶a̶n̶c̶e̶ peperoni, if it just falls off the pizza?

If you truly want the best pizza, you gotta pay the huge premium!

Seriously though, way i see it: People have their budget and buy what they want for it. Some people are willing to pay more for peace of mind/performance/brand and some aren't. Peoples purchases are their own and of their own worth. People seem cant seem to understand that their reasoning behind other peoples purchases might not be true outside their head.

Who cares if it doesnt beat the TI, what I took from that was that it seems to be in the ballpark area of the TI. Even at 10% less performance selling for 400 im sold.

Seems like that August article is referencing the same nonsense chiphell leaks that had the faked 1150MHz, 8GB screenshot.

(fake because device ID was completely wrong for fiji)

From that link, it rumoured at $749 for the 4GB Fiji XT, which is less memory than the 980Ti (albeit it faster) and performance on par with the Ti. So 6GB at $649 now or wait for 4GB at $749 (rumoured)?

I really want to go AMD this time. My nVidia 680 sli 2GB have been awsome...but its time to change them and i want to go back to AMD. the 680's had been my only departure from AMD/ATI since 2000..before that was a mixture of Orchid and Matrox...

Although, I don't place much I was surprised at how good these 680 sli have latest...I only really play BF and some driving games and I'm well over 120fps on my 120hx panel most of the time. with all the sliders to the right.

So, I can wait for AMD to prove themselves!
