Thermaltake, you have been ousted!!!

Well this says it all really.

With you being the Antec rep, what are your thoughts of the R5 in the first place? Don't you think it's a copy of some of Antec's older cases? Some of Fractal's cases certainly bare a striking resemblance.

just had a look at the antec p180 and the R5, on the outside yes they look similar but the inside looks different.

Actually you are right, the P series was the first company to do that style, I did like the R2 when it first came out, I actually bought laucnhed them at ocuk when I was the case buyer at ocuk.

Completely brazen to actually buy the cases direct from Caselabs. Bunch of *********. Never bought a Thermaltake and never will to be honest.

Of course they are. The P180 and 190 are very old now. Case design has moved on and the layout that the R5 uses is a standard modern ATX case layout that most companies are using.

Corsair have a case called the Carbide 330R that looks very similar both inside and outside to the R5 and Thermaltake's case.

they maybe old but still looks nice.

They were out about 10 years ago. Plenty of companies have copied it in some form or another.

i can see why, this got a clean look to it.

the first case i got was an R3 from ********.

Its not that unusual in itself - a lot of companies buy competitors products and do a tear down/analysis but theres a difference between that and then blatantly copying the design.

Its one thing to even produce a product inspired by a tried and tested design i.e. the P180 and another to create what is basically an exact clone with little original work at all and then stick your brand on it.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Are you saying Thermaltake buy the cases from Caselabs?
When the TT guy seen the CL cases he wanted to take photos of them, but when they refused he told them he would buy them instead. Months later TT buy examples of the new CL cases direct from CL themselves once they're for sale and get them delivered to TT HQ and then a while later cases that look pretty much the same appear on the market from TT.

Sure, but it goes to show that Fractal haven't really got any business complaining and claiming that Thermaltake have copied them, because they copied Antec. Though they'd more likely say "insprired by".

It's coming across as Apple syndrome a bit here. Where Apple think they can copy whatever they want, but if they think they're being copied then they throw a tantrum and claim they own the rights to a rectangle with filleted corners.

Oh wow haha. Well that's broken, no denying that. I think people are jumping on the bandwagon with the other stuff though,
