Spec me a toothbrush

Okay, the thread title is slightly misleading - I want an electric toothbrush. My Oral-B's battery isn't lasting very long between charges now, so it's time to replace it.

I don't want to spend much more than £50 on a toothbrush with feature that will only get in my way. A simple on/off button to clean my teeth is all I need, none of this sensitive or whitening stuff!

The next decision I can't make is, normal rotating electric toothbrushes or a sonic one. From what I've read, I think the normal electric ones get your teeth cleanest in the long run. But sonic ones are more intensive and get your teeth clean quicker.

Right now I'm stuck between the Philips Sonicare HX6511 and Oral-B Pro 2000.

Any advice please?

Sonicare all the way. Tried them all, spent hundreds and the Sonicare range is the best.

This. Have been using Sonicare for years now, great product. They last as well, only on my second in 10+ years!

Just put the Youtube video code in the youtube brackets:

Just watched it, you're OK, no swearies. :)

I like the ones with a timer, having to sit there for two minutes did make a difference.

I don't like the Sonicare ones, they make my teeth hurt

Oral-B Trizone 5000 (£59.99 Argos on Ebay) is the best and is German made Braun and i looked at them all a while ago. The Ultrasonic gimmicky one and Sonicare with the chip in the head are inferior these German brushes are the best no doubt BDA Dentists stock and sell them in the UK.

My Hygenist uses the same brush. You might want to look into Waterpik flosser also and Swishing Lucy Bee coconut oil. I use those three as my routine and found them combined to be awesome. After a month i was shocked with swishing for 20mins and even letting some melt in my mouth before bed! The cocnout oil and brushing is also immense. It kills all kinds of nasty stuff. :o

I've had a few sonicare ones but haven't found them to last as long as a braun which another member of the family has. The battery life seems to be the sonicare's weakness with them eventually failing to hold a charge for very long or just not accepting a charge.
