Samsung 4k Freesync Screens

The 850 series is also available from the 25th from a large south american rainforest, but it's £70 more - so they should be in before for exclusive bragging.

Checked it, that's a river convenience shop .... similar info I got via the "German connection" :D

Would this not actually be supplied by the main south American/German river but a tributary of it? I was thinking would you still get the same level of protection supplied by the main river?

Same protection. I had Samsung products before coming through various rivers and even big lakes and Samsung warranty worked when I had a problem.

3 days late now. I was hoping for some weekend use from it. Any updates at all on their whereabouts?

It is very odd. I have a bad feeling about this delay. Some speculate that it may have to do something with AMD. Something with the firmware related to Freesync. I have doubts about this but looking at another brand which in fact had issues and require firmware update this cannot be ruled out. These are rumours without any specifics and I am inclined to say that the brands were mixed up.

I guess we need to wait for Gibbo to chip in with some update.

Also, how does it normally work, do testers receive in advance models for review? Are there any testers who had access to any of the UE series?

Not generally. Sometimes models are sent to us direct from Asia, but generally Samsung and their PR teams are quite late in getting reviewers supplied with the goods. Certainly in this case. I've also contacted AMD UK regarding review samples for these models and they don't have any floating about either.

PCM2; thanks for this valuable insight. This is a rather odd release strategy from Samsung. Is it possible that Sammy ran into to some last minute issues with the Freesync? I am guessing here ... although I did not check the differences between versions but for the U24E590D Samsung posted so far 4 version of the user manual. Or, Samsung is waiting for AMD to release crossfire freesync drivers? Or, Samsung is waiting for that computer show coming in June? One thing for sure, I cannot see any benefit for Samsung by not giving testers a sample unit for a review. I think many people wait for reviews.

Here is a plausible explanation for the delays from Baddass posted under the Benq XL2730Z Freesync Owners Thread

HERE
Could this be the reason why Samsung seems to delay the release of the new Freesync monitors? (This is based on the assumption what you said that "all the current FreeSync monitors are prone to this same problem."
very likely, along with any other delays from other manufacturers i expect. It was an issue affecting ALL FreeSync monitors released so far, so it required an updated driver from AMD which only came out a couple of weeks ago, and a new firmware ensuring compliance with the new setup from the monitor manufacturer

Hi there

All the prices were updated, they all went down except the 32" which went up, this happened weeks ago and I posted as such as to why.

Our delivery is due tomorrow/Wednesday all being well, certainly this week unless Samsung make an error. :)

What is going on Gibbo? You went quiet on this one. Would you mind giving an update on this please?

Still nothing at all. Although it was supposed to be available today from Amazon - it's saying out of stock there.

So what's going on at Samsung's end?

What I heard from a reliable source (not UK) is that these 4K monitors may not become available before July. It is 100% sure that the plug was pulled in the last minute for some reason. (Some say the screw-up was caused by AMD and its rubbish implementation of Freesync which requires the monitor makers to update the monitor firmware.) The first wave will be probably the UE850s followed by the UE590s with the 28" and the 24".

On the other hand, Gibbo was talking rubbish (when he claimed Wednesday availability or last week). I even have doubts about this or next week.

EDIT:
I heard from a second source that most likely availability will be during July and on some markets Aug.
It is now 99% that the issue is related to the Freesync because the same panel (24 in) is used in another monitor (Acer K242HQKBMJDP) and this is now available. At least hopefully the testers can give us some info about the quality of this new Samsung 4K panel.

Sadly but what I heard before it looks like correct. All Samsung freesync monitors will be released earliest around the end of Jun including the 32".

The dates I have seen on sites are usually mid June. But the store I called earlier this week said the freesync monitor will be released this week and that he hasn't read anything about a delay yet.

Don't know what to believe but I guess we'll see when the time comes.

I guess we really cannot rely on what stores say as probably they are under some sort of non-disclosure agreement. Have you noticed how OcUK and especially Gibbo became quiet about these? They even changed the Out of stock status to Pre-order without dates. BTW, the delay is due to AMD screw-ups. The monitors were tested by the FCC in Jan and initially they were to be released in Apr which is indicated by FCC filing and the fact that FCC made all the documents public. Rumour has it that a quite few manufacturers are ****ed at AMD. Samsung is quiet at the moment but apparently it is considering for next year a G-sync version. (Again, this is what I was told who actually was spot on with the dates. As it stands, they want to see how this will be fixed and whether it will bring the financial benefit they expect from these models.)

I also saw those mid-June dates on various websites and they do change almost every day to a later date. As you probably noticed there is no set date. Even when you look at the latest Samsung announcements even Samsung does not state a specific date. BTW, I love these models as Samsung announced these at least 4 times now! Therefore, what I heard from a good source which is the end of Jun or early July a while back looks day by day more of a correct date.

Hopefully it will be soon honestly. Though I am rather curious why there hasn't been any real update or news on the monitors yet.

I keep waiting for good news about a date from Gibbo or anyone now at the moment.
