Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers - carriage collision

Saw and Smiler are both awesome rides, this is a real shame.

Obviously safety comes first, just saying it's a shame they can't be awesome, and safe at the same time, or so it would appear.

Anyone seen this? https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/606822303112962048

What a terrible interviewer Kay Burley is, she actually makes him come out of this looking good by being so bloody horrible herself.

I've been reliably informed, by someone who know about this sort of thing, that Nick Varney's handling of this accident in the media has been "textbook" from a a PR damage control angle.

When she states 'this is an interview, not a pr press statement’:

Does she actually mean, this is a chance for her to shout and talk down to him?

Woman has no idea how to interview someone.

Just watched it all, Sky should be ashamed of themselves. This was an opportunity to get some facts out and she just wants to go off on a rant, almost felt personal.

She was asking about patient injuries and the likes, as if he's going to divulge any information like that. She's a joke.

Awful. The usual lack of understanding of risk and that absolute safety doesn't exist.
It would have been interesting to ask what the additional safety measures are and what difference they would have made in the accident outcome. Which could have been difficult to answer if they don't know the exact cause(s) yet.

I had to stop watching that, just cringe worthy unfortunately.

He's answering questions and telling his side of the story whilst she's poking him with a sharp stick!

Nobody should be going to a theme park and heading off with their legs mangled. Horrible accident but at least nobody was killed.
We are supposed to be going to alton towers in 2 weeks. Hope it reopens in time.

Yesh, just actually watching that interview.

She's terrible isn't she? Failing to get any information, by just hammering the same point over and over and obsessing about trying to get him to say safety measures were insufficient.

You can see how well he's handling even that sort of grilling though.

Reminded me of Fox news.

I absolutely despise interviewers like that, seems to be becoming more and more common.

"Can I just interrupt you" NO YOU ****ING CANT

Reminded me of Fox news.

Fox News and Sky News are essentially the same. Rupert Murdoch's right wing nonsense. The man and his media empire are despicable but in a world of free speech, we are left with only our remote button to silence him. I never watch Sky or Fox as I'm sick to death of their biased agenda.
