Titan X Issues - Green Lines and Green Snow

All,

Had a TX for a couple of months and been chatting with OCuk with regard to RMA because I seem to have the following problem.

When using the display port outlet from the TX I'm having resolution problems (constantly reverting back to lowest resolution) and I have green lines and dashes (snow) all over the screen.

I can boot to Bios and then into the OS (Win 8.1) but I cant access Nvidia control panel and I tried updating the drivers which failed. The card powers up it seems everything lights up, fan running etc. I've not yet checked in device manager whether it is actually being recognised yet which is the next step.

OCuk have advised flashing the Bios, which I have no experience of, I have a Asus Z87 Sabertooth and I understand it is relatively easy and can be done automatically with some software.

I've also tried reseating the card, but not in a different PCI slot. Might be another option.

Any thoughts?

Everything was running fine for 6 weeks or so and only the last couple of weeks have I had this issue. Where is has got progressively worse, to now being a permanent problem.

Cheers.

I'm surprised they've told you to flash the bios as that can void the warranty. I'd probably demand they at least test the card themselves so you can avoid potentially weeks of further troubleshooting.

I think the OP means flashing his motherboard Bios to ensure compatibility.

Definitely flash your motherboard bios as first priority.

What screen and display cables are you using?

Probably something to do with software or driver conflicts IMO. Try something like uninstalling the drivers and using DDU afterwards. Maybe try changing the DP aswell.

Yeah bios flash might help.

Yes, flashing the Mobo.

I'll give that a go then.

Bit odd though as I haven't had any compatibility issues up until now. It's literally been a breeze.

Edit: Thanks for the help guys i'll keep you posted.

Right then, I've flashed the bios, updated to the newest version and still have the same problem. There is an error message in device manager as follows:

Now i'm uninstalling drivers restarting and trying to install again.

It's not the cable or monitor tried other cables and screens, same issue.

Send it back, Don't delay and don't stress yourself out trying to fix an issue which considering it was all working for a while must be in the card itself.

Did u uninstall the driver with DDU "display driver uninstaller" if not I'd try that as I wonder if u might have uninstalled it via device manager. And as above make sure u go to the motherboards website. And download any drivers like chip set ones.

All,

Thanks for the help. The SM Bus error message had only popped up since the Bios update but it was a simple fix anyway. I've exhausted all options with the card really so i'll chat to OCuk again about RMA / Warranty cover.

Thanks again.

I get red snow on my tv sometimes from the hdmi connection from my 980 when switching from dvi to hdmi. I use a very long (and cheap) hdmi cable (to stretch across my living room) and if i unplug it and plug it back in its fine so the snow is definitely caused by the cable in my case. Just something to try.
