If they want this to be successful, they need to:

- drastically reduce the temps to 980 levels or lower
- at least 10% better performance than the 980
- cheaper than the 980

Honestly in my mind it has to be even a better deal then that cause offering old rebranded tech with more ram after 2 years is abit of a joke tbh, also the amd drivers need a lot more improving then the nvidia drivers do that is just a sad fact and dont even start of crossfire profiles

I can't believe Asus would recycle that same awful cooler again. I thought they were all about the Strix branding these days. It was one of the worst non-reference 290(X) coolers due to the poor contact it made with the Hawaii GPU, because it was originally designed for Kepler cards and then slapped on the 280(X) and 290(X) as is.

Thats why (and because WCCF pulled the article in a few mins) i say take it with a big pile of salt

Well it absolutely has to be reworked somehow (ie cooler and lower power draw) otherwise it is completely pointless.

Honestly it's more likely to have several architectural improvements carried over from Tonga. This won't be a like for like card. If it is it's commercial suicide.

No, its the "wccf posted an article so bad they themselves pulled it but certain people want to create as many negative threads as possible" thread.

Only the truth of the matter is you have absolutely no idea why they pulled it to the same degree you have absolutely no idea about the product in question.

Therefore, there is doubt and no need for you to go on the defensive. There are several corners of the internet discussing the possibilities with a good mix of technical discussion. Difference is when it's brought here it's met with stale pasty cynicism.

Why would I be defensive? nor am I claiming knowledge. Its just regurgitated articles from a clickbait site which you've taken a day or so to post in a new thread when the forum already has 2 rumour threads and numerous other threads on this topic.

Has nobody thought to consider that the GCN cores might be different?
The leaked spec's mention nothing of cores which is also why I believe it was leaked on purpose.
;-)

If we see anymore duplicate graphics card launch/rumor threads, they will be locked and moderator action will be taken on the member that created the thread. Most of the time this is to bait the other members if a negative rumor occurs which we want to keep the peace amongst everyone here. We don't need a new thread for every little piece of information that occurs, just post it to the respective thread that has already been made.

Anand mods see through it, why can't ours?

I don't mind them being rebranded but I do mind the price. I'm still kicking myself for not getting the 290 Tri-x when it was 180 each..
