NatWest seems to have gone on a closing spree of a large percentage of branches in North Wales. My one is Llanwrst was only closed a few months ago, i now have to travel 1 hour on the bus to get to my nearest branch.

They are now closing even more branches and quite frankly i've had enough of them.

I really want to switch but have quite a large overdraft on my student account. Now can i switch student accounts whilst in the red?

Not sure why they are closing the Buckley one as there's always a queue out of the door whenever I've needed to go there so it's not like nobody uses it.

They could do with a bigger one in Buckley if anything at all. It's the biggest or second biggest populated Town in the County IIRC.

I'm sure all the old people will love a trip into Mold on the bus. They'll lose a few thousand customers.

Must be part of the Buckley Master Plan. :D

They're probably shutting them down because most people do their banking online now. I think the last time I went into a bank was probably 5-6 years ago....

You don't even need to go in to set up an account now.

I used one of those cash deposit machines quickly in my lunch hour ... Other than that I never used banks just use my phone app to do any transfer or payments etc

There's a significant proportion of people who prefer in branch banking rather than online or even telephone banking. They tend to be of the older generation though and I'm pretty sure OP is young.

Cheques account for around 5% of all transactions made over here; I think it's even less in the UK.

Like what out of interest ?

Paying in cheques, that's how i currently get paid. No good when i have to endure an hours bus journey plus a £5.50 bus fare to pay it in.

Apparently i can pay them in the Post Office now according to NatWest but when i went in they said they couldn't.

The only bank left near me is a HSBC, which i didn't go with as they refused to give me a student account.
