I have just bought a holiday with my girlfriend and two friends all staying in fethiye in august this summer.
After looking at trip advisor and several tourist sites, there seems to be a lot to do in the area. Just wondering if anyone has been before and if they would recommend anywhere in particular, eg. One scuba diving company over another, bars resteraunts etc. Cheers!

probably over ran with migrants traveling from africa since turkey > greece > italy is their route.

go look at the greece photos of holiday makers surrounded by migrants see if you want to risk the same, maybe you might even get the chance to rescue a few on your scuba dive

syria is also sharing a border with turkey. so you could hop across and have a picnic with isis

What exactly are you trying to achieve with this post? pointless

I've been a couple of times, we stay in Hisaronu when we go to Turkey usually and take a trip into Fethiye a couple of times while were there.

Best place to eat imo is the Yatch Roof Restaurant

It's also definitely worth taking a short bus ride to Olu Deniz and visiting the national park there which is the lagoon that you see in all the pictures if you google the area. You do have to pay to get in there but its only a nominal charge iirc.

Thanks mate I'll be sure to eat there. The lagoon looks beautiful from what I have seen so that's on the list. Paragliding is on the list of things to do, taking in that view will be something else when youre up there.
Its never anywhere I have thought of going before due to stereotypes from my parents generation, but iv heard a lot of good things as a whole

The lagoon is mostly stone beach so be prepared for that but its worth getting a peddlo and taking it around the lagoon for sure. I've not done the paragliding but it does look amazing as they launch from what looks like a really good height.

The area is much like any similar area, locals will try to get you to come in there shop or eat at their restaurant but they've never been pushy and respect being told 'no thank you'.

If you go to Olu Deniz make sure you go to Help Bar as it's the only place to get any really good cocktails as they use fresh fruit etc (if you're into that) and the food is good too and it's right on the beach not far from the lagoon.

I can't offer anything specific to the area but turkey is a fantastic place. Always had pleasant experiences with the people too. Hope you have fun!

It's not trolling it's facts you can't disagree with facts

The information that Galatasaray have beaten Fenerbahçe to the top of the Turkish Super Lig is also a 'fact' but to continually post about that in a thread that clearly has nothing to do with it would be just as unhelpful as the bilge you've posted.

We stayed in Ölüdeniz a few years back which is just to the south. We enjoyed the Turtle Beach in Hisaronu, I think you should be going around the time they are laying eggs (vauge memory might want to check that). Also the Tloss abandoned city. And the Saklikent Gorge walk.

Thanks for the tips guys, We wanted to do as much as possible with the limited time we have there so I appreciate the pointers.
The abandoned city sounds good! I may get an age of empires buzz when looking at Ottoman/Byzantine ruins :D
The gorge walk sounds amazing too, iv done a couple in the lakes and Yorkshire dales but nothing where the weather has been kind.

Have stayed in hisaronu before in an apartment and it was alright. Short bus down to Oludeniz and the blue lagoon.

I would recommend 'sugar beach' if you visit the lagoon as its a nice sandy beach and is far less crowded than the others. Another great beach if you want a little adventure is kabak. It's at the bottom of a valley and you have to trek down through the trees.

Kayakoy is not too far and has the 'ghost village' and also some very nice restaurants that seem to care a lot more about their customers than those in the bustling towns/cities.

General things I'd recommend are paragliding from mount babadag, and the gorge at saklikent. I made it all the way to the 'top' (where you are faced with about a 12ft waterfall). It goes from a nice stroll to being neck deep in water if that's your thing :p

Me and my other half went to Turkey a few years ago, very last minute - had no idea what to expect, and it was amazing.

We stayed in a small village just up from Ölüdeniz called Hisaronü. We did various things, took a trip to Tloss, went to a Turkish bath, went on a boat trip out into the sea and over to Butterfly Valley / Island - which was great, went on a jeep safari thing. There's a market on in Fethiye which was a bit manic. Went to the gorge as well, was so refreshingly cold in the water! Would've wanted a bit more time to go north to Ephesus - Pamukkale. I remember something about mud baths, that might've been on the jeep thing too.

We went with no idea what to do or go, and just went into the local tour operators and looked at what was on offer. Everything (all the food too) was cheap and of fantastic quality. We booked everything with http://www.tinyakropol.com/ No idea what they're like compared to others there now, as we were there in.. 2010..ish

Transfers from the airport took a while.

also don't forget the population is 98% muslim so hide your beliefs if you aren't

Ignoring the fact Turkey is secular and until a couple of years ago the hijab was banned from schools and government to prevent association of politics with Islam.

Oh wow, I may actually have to get a holiday plan together for a change, rather than just winging it! Never thought thered be so many things to do. And looking at prices etc they seem really cheap too!
