Anyone been to turkey - fethiye?

I have just bought a holiday with my girlfriend and two friends all staying in fethiye in august this summer.
After looking at trip advisor and several tourist sites, there seems to be a lot to do in the area. Just wondering if anyone has been before and if they would recommend anywhere in particular, eg. One scuba diving company over another, bars resteraunts etc. Cheers!

Fetiye is a great place to holiday. A good mix of sedate and loud venues.

Have a lovely time.

Note: in the Turkish baths, you don't take your top off to be massaged even when asked by the male masseuse!

Thabkyou for the good wishes... And the advice! I'm not sure what to read into that... But I'll keep some clothes and some dignity haha

I've been to Fethiye, it's a bustling place. Very touristy, but still nice. The street market, when open, is massive. Loads of haggling and stuff to do there, everything is knockoff of course.

Most of the "things to do" companies are like-for-like when compared to other companies, so none really to recommend over the others. Just be aware that words like "safari" are translated very literally, e.g. we went on a "Jeep Safari" and it just meant being driven around to various places like carpet warehouses and monuments in a jeep. On the road.

They will also take every opportunity to sell you something. The carpet "factory" we visited (it's really a co-op that the local government set up) turned into a long sales pitch, but it was still informative. We learned how they are made, what makes a turkish rug different to other rugs, the history of rug making etc. etc.

However having said all that, it's all so cheap and still enjoyable that I don't complain about it. A full day of "jeep safari" cost about £16 for the two of us which included lunch.

Just take it at face value, add a pinch of salt to everything they tell you, and don't be scared to refuse things they will try to sell you and you'll have lots of fun.

Turkey is beautiful.

Hated the culture, hated being pestered every where I went, girlfriend hated being spoken to like a piece of a meat. Wouldn't bother going back.

Have you thought about Croatia. I spend a lot of time there, and I gotta say I love it so very much. Food is amazing, beautiful country/weather, lots of see & do.

Went to Olu Deniz a few years back - fantastic place.

People are lovely and friendly, the restaurants serve amazing food at great prices and the landscape is stunning. The blue lagoon is amazing, so quiet and tranquil. Fethiye is only a short bus ride away; we did the open market on a Tuesday (iirc). It's very busy but you can grab a bargain even though it's pretty much all fake (but actually fairly well made) stuff.

On our last day we did a trip to a mud bath and riverboat to Turtle Beach - we had blue crab caught fresh from the bay.

Would have done the hand-gliding from the top of mountain but didn't have enough cash to do it :( next time definitely - looks incredible.

Oh and we bought a rug from the carpet place :o
