Off to Goodman's Restaurant Tonight

Goodman is almost perfect, unfortunately theres too much emphasis on US corn fed beef rather than British. Guess it's no different from Argentinian Gaucho in that respect... Too late for a reservation at Hawksmoor? :D

Only kidding, you'll have an excellent time and you'll receive all the pointers you need from the very knowledgeable waiting staff. Creamed spinach is an obvious one. Definitely go for the Mac and Cheese.

Wow expensive. You got money to burn or somit? If it was me I'd just buy some nice steak and cook it myself lol than pay those prices.

Was my birthday treat from my fiancée.

Just got back home after the meal. I'm in a food coma. Amazing steak. I had a British grass fed porterhouse steak 650g. It was ridiculously good, cooked to perfection and ordered several sides too.

Beef dripping chips
Mac and Cheese
Spinach creamed with gruyere
Garlic mushrooms

Also had the cookie ice cream dessert. Bill only came to £130 including 3 beers, a coffee and water.

Which one did you go to? I've been to the Canary Wharf one several times and it is the best steak I think I've ever had.

It doesn't even come close to cooking it at home SkeeterUK. I'd agree with you if you're talking about steak in normal pubs but this is top stuff.

As you probably found Liquid Entity, they do a steak board which is more options that one is on their standard menu.

The last time I went they cooked the wrong steak for us so we got a bone in ribeye for free while they cooked our porterhouse. So. Much. Steak. :D:cool:

The truffle Mac'n'cheese is great, and the creamed spinach. I usually start with an Old Fashioned and then some nice wine with the meal.

Mmmm I want to go soon.

Thanks Skeeter. I usually buy steaks online from good places and cook at home but I treated my fiancée to a weekend away in Stratford-upon-Avon last month so this was her return treat. I wish we had money to burn or we'd go out more often. Everything is being ploughed in to flat purchase this year.

Bsoltan yes I saw the board and that's how I ebded up with the porterhouse 650g British grass fed, it was on the steak board. Exceptional taste, juicy and best of both worlds with the fillet and loin meats.

The creamed spinach was my favourite side, the mac n cheese was delicious but was too much with all the rest too.

Went to the one in Maddox Street, Mayfair one. Good service throughout meal and even got 2 free beers because my first drink came with a crack in glass. I didn't complain I just mentioned it when they collected the glass.

9/10 for overall experience

Had an epic night at Goodman for my birthday a few years ago - we ended up trying about 6 different steaks, each around 1kg, some grass, some grain fed.

It is an expensive night out and yes you can reproduce brilliant steak at home if you can source it, but the sides/service etc add up to a very good package
