leasing a car

im nearly at the 1 year mark with my leased Fiesta ST3, never had any issues and the lease has suited me very well

no hassle with tax, no hassle with selling car, advertising fees, taking time off work for viewers, have to deal with dreamers and time wasters.

Car goes back and i get a new car for another 2 years, you do however need to look after the car and not get it all scratched up

i guess everyone has different views on leasing and will not suit some but will others

also leasing works on some cars and not others so do as you are doing and do your research on resale values and depreciation

got my ST from gateway2lease for reference.

Some cracking deals on that site  can't believe a 300bhp Golf R can be had for £263 p/m:eek:
Noticed the new ST Focus with a rubbish 185bhp tractor engine is on for around 200. It would annoy me if I had that proper 250bhp one and nobody can tell the difference from looking at it

Just seen the Leon Fr150 for £165PM!
Just need to convince the wife its a good car and a nice idea and im jumping head first!

For that money i may as well get a diesel and make some extra savings on the MPG

They are good cars.

You won't really see much in the way of MPG savings unless you're doing long journeys though. As diesel is more expensive than petrol in the first place, at your 11k a year mileage it'd probably be marginal at best. If you were actually buying the car I'd suggest not going for a diesel at all but since it's just a lease it's not your car to have to worry about anyway :)

Yeh there really nice looking cars the Leon FR's. I still think the Fiesta ST is the best bet though for around the same p/m payments for the sheer enjoyment u would get driving it plus it's faster than the Leon.

So your only original criteria was that the car needed to have better performance than your clio..... and your decision is to go with a 150bhp Diesel.

The reason for not going with the Fiesta ST that meets the criteria was that it was too common, I'd say a Diesel Leon is far more common than the Fiesta.

Confused much.... Good luck with the Leon anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy it, just not as much as your Clio.

I'm not 100% on it yet, I may go for the 184 Leon ;) That is faster.

The St2 is cheaper on this site. very tempting

Its not 165 a month, you are forgetting things like the deposit..

Do yourself a favour and hold on until the new registration comes out and dealers are preregistering stock to hit targets. There were some crazy deals around September/October last year especially on Fords.

Make sure you look over the whole term and add the deposit, monthly payments and admin fee together and divide by the term to get a true pcm cost.

How did we suddenly go from 200bhp Fiesta STs and 208 GTI's to a diesel 150bhp leon?

You don't want a Fiesta ST because it is too common yet you don't mind a diesel Leon? I see far, far more diesel Seat Leons about than Fiesta ST's!

You also don't want to finance a car as it is not for you but want to lease one (often the most expansive form of financing a car in the long run)?

Bizarre thread

Sigh, Just looking at my options.

In the short term Leasing is cheaper. If i was to do PCP and then hand the car back at the end i would spend 2x more over that period :/

Does your life end in 2 years or will you no longer need a car in two years? If you lease every few years you are quite literally paying the worst years of depreciation on a new car the whole time. Yes, you get a new car every two years but don't for one minute think it is cheaper to do that when compared with buying new and keeping it for a decent amount of time. It is absolutely the most expensive way to own a car, just with the plus point of having a new one every two years.

Also, you seem to be ignoring the fact that with PCP there will most likely always be more equity in the car than what the final payment indicates.

Ok people!

Decided to buy a Used car. On finance. cheaper and i will own the car in 3 years.

I'm going to get a Leon 2.0 TDI FR550. Can be had for £6k lowish miles too.

Thanks for the help people!

This is a very confusing thread.

You didn't want finance but ended up with finance?

You didn't want a common car but ended up with a diesel leon?

Congrats.

Get a loan if you can. Should be able to pick up ~3.5% APR
