**AORUS X5 -Coming Soon**

Hi,

Do you know when we're likely to see any independent reviews or benchmarks for some popular games (e.g. have review units been sent out?). I'd love to get my preorder in but i've been bitten by misleading SLI benchmarks in the past .

It would be great to know what average frame rate we can expect for games like Witcher 3 at high/ultra settings. 3DMark scores are ok but something real world would be better info to make a pre order decision with.

On the surface it looks like it could be all things to all men at a good price. The X7 was a little too big and the fan noise make it a bit anti-social to use in an office, the X3 high resolution on the small screen made it a no go for day to day dev/productivity work. This does look like the baby bears' porridge of gaming laptops, the following are the only concerns for me (and i imagine most ppl who want a laptop for work and play):

- Real world benchmarks (fps at high/ultra presets)
- Battery life at mid-high demand (running a VM or playing a game)
- Comments on fan noise and thermal throttling (I appreciate we might not get answers to this until independent reviews are out).

Any advice on the above would be appreciated.

Thanks
Gary

Hi garyoleary,

We have requested some benchmarks on new titles to be carried out, and we will post the results as soon as they are through. Probably after the weekend, but as soon as they are here, we will share them.

We also expect media reviews to be published within the next week or so, again once live we will post here.

Thanks,

Gigabyte UK NB Team

Great, thanks.

I placed my order today anyway, think they are estimated to ship out around the 19th but if for some reason it arrives before the benchmarks i'll post some examples on here from the games i have.

How do these wafer laptops keep cool?
I pretty much had unlimited budget and went for top spec Asus.
It's dead quiet with its massive fans

I just can't believe these things won't suffer from
Either
Serious heat problems
And/or
Serious fan noise problems

Hi al4x,

Our R&D team invest heavily in this area and of course with performance components in a thinner chassis we accept there will be a compromise.

Compromises such as with a performance sports car, you probably accept that you wont be taking the wife, kids, and weekly shopping in the boot and getting 60mpg tootling round town!

We believe end users want mobility as well as performance and that is one of our goals, to deliver this to the market.

So yes our cooling systems have to be very good, and yes the fans have to work hard when the system is under load.. but here is a glimpse of the layout inside AORUS X7 and X5.

Users also have the ability to customise their fan settings depending on the use and environment they are in.

Hope that helps,

Interesting! Does the cpu suffer on the x7?
I understand youd put the cpu in the middle if you

Hi,

Quick one, do you know if the ETA for the X5 is still looking likely for the 19th ? is this when its expected to ship or be delivered ?

Thanks

Hi garyoleary,

We are working hard to get stock to OcUK as quickly as possible, at the moment we expect stock to arrive with OcUK on 19th, but depending on what needs to be booked into warehouse, and a number of other factors, it could be Monday 22nd before the stock can be shipped to customers who have placed pre-orders.

Will update further when we have news,,, positive or otherwise.

Thanks,

Ugh, half the message got cut off

I understand youd. Put the cpu in the middle as it's probably less important in most games.
But wondering if that impacts it much at all. Perhaps in cpu intensive games or just high demand cpu only tasks?

If you check out pretty much all reviews of the x7 you'll see the CPU (and GPUs) holds up under stress testing, it gets hot and it gets loud but from the reviews i've read it doesn't throttle.

From memory the arma games are quite cpu limited and not great with sli.

Saying that i had a gt70 with a 970m and 4710 and it ran pretty much maxed with a draw distance of 3000m at a steady 45-60 fps depending on the server i was playing on.

Any news on benchmarks yet? and gaming performance in terms of fps in different titles?

Hi napper90,

Sorry for delay, we have followed up with HQ today, they will send results to us as soon as they have run the tests.

Will this support integrated GFX switching (aka Optimus), or is this not possible with SLI? What kind of battery performance can be expected?

Thxs

Hey,

Any sign of the Aorus X5 at Overclockers today ? :)

In the meantime, since it doesn't appear we're likely to see benchmarks until the general public has the laptop in hand (seriously it takes 5 mins, what's the issue??), here is a video showing BattleField 4 at 2880x1620.

Its not in English i'm afraid, my best guess is it begins at High* pre-sets with a frame rate of about 40-50fps, then lowered to Low/Medium with an average of about 60fps

* looks like he scrolls to the end (ultra) and back one

Hi Gary,

We don't have any product in the UK yet, so cant run tests locally. Because the unit is brand new, there isn't stock in HQ either, and what we did have is with Media.

Results will be published before stock is delivered,,, because the delivery of stock has now been pushed back... Again circumstances beyond our control in the UK, we can only apologise and request understanding.

We expect to publish results next week.

Sorry for delay.

Hi ToTheMax,

Our understanding is that Optomus isn't utilised on this spec - mainly because of G-sync but will clarify with technical team and post again.

Delayed till 10th July :(:(:(:(

Hi napper,

Yes, sorry, we just notified OcUK and all customers who have placed pre-order will be notified.

This is obviously disappointing, but we hope that 10th of July is worse case scenario, and with luck we will see stock arrive before this date.

We will of course keep the ETA updated and also post on forums.

Really sorry for the inconvenience.
