I'm quite impressed who the 2x 980Ti's can handle 3x 970s - I had expected a lot closer run between them.

I will be going through some games also before shipping the 970's to new homes ;)

Nice boost.

How about in games though? Is there much of a difference in minimum frame rates?

Still running through the games list, but I can tell now already that in The Witcher III at 1440p with Hairworks enabled and all to the max I get less ms latency when travelling in and out of woods. I expect that is due to more Vram. Else FPS are higher in all games and so it the minimum FPS in a majority of them :p

I would expect you to have seen a boost. 2 way sli scales better than 3 way, and 2 970's are the same as a single 980ti. So if scalling was perfect you have 3 970's vs 4 970's.

No contest! :p

Mind running a few AAA benches for me when you have time ?

4K (DSR) as you have a 1440p monitor (just disable G-Sync to get it working with SLI)

Everything maxed including AA

Dying Light
Shadow of Mordor
COD AW
GTA V

The 980Tis will absolutely smash the 970s , I say this as a former user of SLI 970.

Also even if the 970s bench well, they stutter and play like crap at 4K.

I'm going for a single 970 though (the new AMD cards are filthy rebrands and not worth the money it seems from today's leaked benchmarks). I'll go all out on a beefy Pascal with the die-shrink. Fingers crossed OCUK get the MSI on the daily deal soon, I can't stand loud cards.

Well actually I have had excellent scaling on my 3x 970's - just like the 3x780/670/580/470/280's before them :p I will throw in a 3rd 980Ti when finances allow it :D

I have The Witcher, COD AW as "newer" AAA titles - really I'm not much into most AAA titles. GTA I lost interest in with release of San Andreas (favorite were GTA London and Vice City), I'll take them for a spin in genuine 4K on my Samsung 4K screen.

Well I had 3x 970 and they did exceptionally well in 4K :)
