Evening all. Some scrote has scratched the paint work on my car and I think it may buff out. I gave it a shot with a cig socket powered buffer and although it is way underpowered it looks as if it did have some effect. Im thinking a better more powerfull buffer could do the trick. Can anyone recommend a good reasonably priced Electric Buffer that comes with what I would need to have a right good go at removing the offending cratches? I would like to keep it under £100. Cheers

Just looking at that. Bit over budget? How much are pads and extras for something like that?

How bad are the scratches? I had a fence panel hit the side of my Mondeo last year when we had the really bad wind which left 18" of scratches down the rear wing & door.

I ended up having to wet sand the area then buff it back out, looks perfect now & was all done by hand.

Can you catch your fingernail on the scratch? What car is it as some cars can have very hard paint and some can be soft.

The rotary should be OK provided you are carful not to overdo it. DA is safer but is more expensive and will take longer.

I think Honda's generally have quite soft paint so the Das should be OK but I would go for the plus model if the budget can be stretched as the motor has a fair bit more guts.

The Plus is maybe too far over budget for me. How much would a detailer take for full job on average?

The normal Das will be fine but it will just take a bit longer, particularly when doing whole cars.

I would think paying a pro detailer would vary wildly in price depending on who you call and what sort of correction package you go for. I am sure some one will be able to give you a general idea of price though.

Yes but you need to use it with care due to being a rotary, it has 1200w (double the Das 6) focused on one spot were as the Das 6 has a random orbit. This means that he rotary can correct damage much faster but it will also heat up the paint much faster and you can 'burn' through the paint if not being careful.

Mmm Burning the paint is bad Mkay. I may go for the DAS. What kind of pads and polishes would I need or does that kit linked to in post 9 have everything I would need?

Rotaries are not hard to use, u would have leave machine in one place for a serious length of to burn paint out. I have a silverline rotary with 3m pads, and its a fantastic budget machine, better faster results than the frankly overpriced scene purchase that is the das 6.!
