Could look at it another way as well i suppose, if all AMD have to do is OC their old cards to match/beat the 970/80s, then Nvidia should have made more of an effort :p

Why waste all that money a new card costs, when a simple OC will do the job :D

Nvidia have only brought out 2x cards that AMD can't match with a simple OC, so they are having to bring out a new cards to match those :p

Apart from 300 being higher than 200 and 8 GB being higher than 4 GB there's also a DX12 stamp on the box and imminent W10 release that brings it. From a marketing perspective what AMD is doing makes perfect sense :D

And the prices are probably high since stock is limited to the 200 series chips they have stockpiled. I'm guessing they are not making them anymore. So stock has to last until next series is released in 2016.

Same could be said about the 780Ti and it being OC'd then. For me new cards should bring out new and better tech and support as well; along with good out of the box performance.

As it stands AMD still can't even manage Windowed mode Crossfire, the new cards also need more than a simple OC, otherwise every 290X currently around would be matching and beating the 980s in new games that have come out. Also forgetting that you can also easily OC the NV cards, especially since the 970 and 980 run cooler and use less power.

There's also the fact that the MSI gaming 390X is listed €549, and in Germany you can get an overclocked aftermarket cooler 980 for the same price as well.

What happened to TrueAudio, and all that support? Why can't the 300 fully support DX 12? That's mostly my issues with the rebrands, along with the upped price if we look at the benchmarks.

Here are 2 images of my 290 in gpu-z. The first one is stock(Tri-x so 1000mhz) the second is OC'd. Look at the bandwidth and compare it to the 390 image above. It doesn't seem right. What does everyone think? Does having 8GB automatically increase bandwidth?

Yes its an obvious fake, to many people want it to be true. its also a Powercolor GPU passed off as XFX, Photoshopped...

Here is the thing. Nvidia has basically trapped AMD like a mouse in a tunnel with both entrance and exits blocked.

The entrance being the GTX 970 and the exit being the GTX 980TI.
If the 390X were in similar performance to the 970 and on top of that cost more, and with no more stocks of the 290X, you bet that a lot of people that have not upgraded (like me), will likely have a bigger potential to jump ship to Nvidia with their 970. It would be pretty funny if Nvidia became the "budget" option, and it would be a serious loss to AMD as it is likely AMD makes most of their GPU margin on Budget buyers.

Also, Humbug.
You're making some mistakes with those GPUZ's, it's not just the memory clock you should be looking at.

Texture fillrate improves with core clock....... 1050 Core clock on a 290X gives me 184.8.
Your core clock is 120MHZ higher than the 2560 shader part.
In fact, those GPUZ's seem spot on to me.
