Is the 980ti making the 980 obsolete?

Actually you are right... £500 to £1000 is not a "whole lot" ... it is double the amount...

The original titan wasn't for gamers , and as for the X , it's still geared towards developers or more scientific uses for those that need the vram . But if you want to count That fair enough , and the performance is still offerd for less than that so this could go round in circles .

Pretty sure the titan X is a gaming card and not aimed at anything else, the original Titan was more than a gaming card tho.

Most people who buy high end hardware have plenty of disposable income so it really doesn't matter.

It happens with monitors/cpu's/Gpu's etc etc ...

My 980's will be split and donated to the Mrs Rig

I actually sold my 980 to step up to a Titan X, which was DOA. Once I got my refund I got 2 980Ti's.

The 980Ti just makes so much more sense, especially compared to overclocked aftermarket 980s.

I think the 980 needs more of a price drop to make more sense as a purchase.

The 980 was always intended to be a mid-end card masquerading as a high-end flagship due to AMDs shortcomings. It was sold (and still is) at rip-off prices - not worth its real value.

Was really tempted with the 980 before the 980 Ti came out, if I'm spending £350-400 on a card I think oh well might aswell pay an extra £150 or so and get the Ti then won't need to upgrade again for a very long time, have left it long enough as it is :D

Looking forward to going back to the green team... lol

The GeForce GTX Titan X is their enthusiast card and not as such gaming card. Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang says so himself. 2min 41 sec into the video he talks about Titan X vs 980Ti.

A gamer can buy it and game on it sure , just like the last , but it's still not marketed to gamers . It's there for professionals that need the vram

Would you guys say me buying a EVGA SC 980 in the MM £335 to be a bad deal?

It's not a bad deal ... But it's a lot for what it is ... A tad faster than a 970 that you can get for 240 squids...

Why do you think people are selling them in droves ??? They all want ti
