I am thinking of buying a Microsoft Lumia 535 from a Carphone Warehouse store which is £59.99 plus £10 top-up. I intend to use the 321 Tariff of Network 3 since I am not a heavy user. I am not very knowledgeable on mobile phones. I would really appreciate your help.
Can you tell me what the advantages are in buying a Windows phone over an Android one please? Namely…
1. I have a Windows 7 Desktop PC with loads of Word Documents. I can upgrade it to Windows 10 if I wished. Will I be able to plug in a flash drive or a USB lead on the 535 phone and transfer Word documents and edit them there ? Does it come with free MS Word program or will I have to install the free Openoffice software in its place? Will I be able to plug the 535 directly to my printer using a USB cable? Or will I have to buy a new wifi enabled printer?
2. Can I install Firefox internet browser and use Google ? I do not use Internet Explorer.
3. Will I be able to use my voice to create a long text message and then edit the few mistakes that need correcting and then send it?
Is this what Cortana does? what else can it do?
4. I need to download the following app which will give me mass readings every day in church.
https://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/search?q=universalis
Will I be able to download it on the 535?
Will I be able to use mobile broadband in order to access the mass readings app while I am in church since there will be no wifi broadband there? I have Sky wifi internet broadband at home. Can I switch off mobile broadband at will when I am at home?
5. My 2G phone can activate an alarm at a set time even though it is switched off. I use this feature many times and is very useful. Can the 535 do this ? If I wanted to use it as an alarm clock, will I have to leave it switched on?
6. When I start using it for the first time after charging it, am I supposed to use it until all the battery has been used up? How long will the battery last on average?
7. It says it has an expandable memory of 128 GB. What is the best card that is most compatible with the 535? I could then load mp3s and mp4s and documents on it with confidence.
Once again, I am very grateful for any help and information.
