I need to play FF8, considering it was developed along side FF7 in the opposite room and how simular they are I've never played it :p

FF8 is marmite, it's a much riskier investment for square. Graphically it also holds up a lot better.


As long as they don't **** up the core mechanics like the turn based battles, materia system and overworld I'll be happy. I'd love it to bring the whole compilation together some how, like when you find Zack in the mansion the flashback will be a lot more detailed.

I love FF7, I mean really love it, it was my first video gaming love, nothing will ever be able replace it in my heart - but video games have moved on a long way since then. An identical remake, no matter how good it is isnt going to hold up against the games of today. I fell in love with FF7 because of the way the story unfolded infront of me, but I know that story now, and no matter how it looks its just not going to be the same. I know I take my life into my hands by saying this... but a re-imagining really might not be a bad thing.

I completely agree. As much as I loved FFVII it's not going to work as-is.
 
I don't mind a reimagining per se but if they do this be honest about it. Call it a remake and remake the game exactly as it was story, battles, systems etc etc.

If they want to reimagine then be honest and say so because if they sell me a remake and deliver a reimagining where the core that made the game what it was is changed I would be hugely ****** off about it.

original plans to revive her got scrapped due to time restraints and back then we never had patches. I wonder if they will change this a part of me hopes they do tbh yet part of me don't.
 
That's one of the core parts of the FFVII storyline. If they changed that then it's no longer FFVII. There's be so much backlash.

Which in the FFVII universe is where everyone goes when they die. So, she dead. Dead fo realz. However as she's Cetra she can still hold on to some part of her consciousness and guide the lifestream with her will.
 
Loved FFVII. Never beat Emerald Weapon, though.

Must have spent hours grinding the Alarm enemies to level up - is that a well known exploit? Discovered it by chance, to be honest.
 
Starting a playthrough again in anticipation! I never beat Emerald Weapon either, probably lots I never discovered first times around :)

I feel the same way about this. It would be interesting to see where this storyline could have gone but it was also pretty perfect how it was.
