This is really annoying. There just doesn't seem to be anything conclusive at the £300 mark that leaves you without feeling regret. I bought a 970 then just cancelled before they shipped it. Seems a 780Ti at the £150 mark would be ideal, but I'm not scouring the bay for one as that place is too dodgy.
I guess I'll have to wait for the AMD re-brands to drop and see if that triggers some seismic shifts in Nvidias prices. I doubt it will.
Ideally I'd like to get an MSI Gaming 970 for about £239.99.![]()
Lies, there's no way in hell one can find a 970 that cheap, let alone an MSI Gaming. Funny you mention buying a 970 and cancelling it. I ordered the MSI yesterday for £275 (including shipping) and then realised what a terrible mistake I'd made not waiting, so I cancelled it before it dispatched.
@the OP, no 970 is worth over £300. The best ones are the Gigabyte G1 and MSI Gaming which come in at £300 or less during a sale. G1 has high stock clocks and a backplate, the MSI Gaming is freakishly quiet. Both overclock great.
While I've got my eyes on a possible 390x, the £350 expected price point is making me consider the MSI Gaming GTX 980 for £390 which is currently on sale. It would last me longer than a 970, but I'd have issues going SLI (since I only have a 650W PSU, or is that okay?). I can't wait for the 300 series to finally be available in a couple hours. Does anyone know if the Nvidia cards will drop prices immediately or will they take a while? I need my new card next Monday at the latest.
