Hi, anyone got first hand experience using both 1440p and moving to 4k? I was wondering which is the better option for gaming? Will be picking up a Fury X too.

It's a topic of much debate.

The 4k crowd say that its incredible. The 144hz crowd say the same thing.

It's something that I think you need to see in person IMO, especially since your considering £500 for a monitor, that's a lot of bread son!

The only thing I can add is that I have used a 1080p 144hz monitor and it just felt like butter. Everything was smoother, even just moving the mouse on the desktop and browsing the internet.

Haha, my old monitor had insurance so got £154 back for it :)

I used to have a 120hz screen and the difference was indeed impressive, got rid of it for a better picture.

One other simple thing to think about is how far away from the screen are you sitting.
I have a 29" 1440p but find myself actually playing at 1080p in some games because I can actually see what's going on without squinting :p
Can't begin to imagine how small 4k would be!

I've still to see a 120/144Hz monitor that didn't look washed out colour wise or brutal in brightness in comparison to a 60Hz model, image quality/angles suffer too much IMHO. I say that as an owner.

1440P wasn't a big enough jump for me, ultrawide might be and 4K would be but although I love how it looks I'm worried more about the panel longevity as so many people report problems 6 months down the line with banding etc. That might just be that initially they were so blown away they didn't notice it.
