Question for OC... any plans to stock these monitors?

Still in two minds... large 4k vs 'small' 34" with gsync...

Hmm I don't wish to import a monitor either!

I'm guessing the company is repackaging LG panels, I'm thinking... how long until more mainstream companies do the same...

I'm getting by with a Dell 3011, which is still going strong, I think I'll hold off until 2016, and see how things pan out.

Although the description says display port 1.2 and HDMI 2.0, I've read a few reviews that say it's not actually HDMI 2.0 so you can't use it for 4K, trying to work out if it's accurate as I'm ready to order one and see how it goes.

Would have thought VA would flat out beat IPS at this kind of size. IPS glow is likely to be horribly distracting if the monitor suffers much from it.

If you're in the market for a 40" 4K monitor, the Phillips VA one has received very good reviews and is pretty reasonably priced.

I bought 4x 27" Korean 2560x1440 monitors a number of years ago now, they've all be fine with no issues at all and I'll be buying a number of 40" monitors from Korea in the next month or so.

Looks a really nice bit of kit, although I am not sure how I could handle 42" on my desk (I have the space) its just massive area for you eyes to take in!

But I guess if you have the monitor set back more on your desk it should balance out. . .

Impressed it's also a IPS screen and not VA so colours and viewing angles should be excellent.

Also no PWM so flicker free.

I'm actually tempted to get one! lol

Don't go by monitor spec sheets especially concerning contrast ratio and response time figures :p

IPS have high response time and can have ghosting.

Most VA monitors aren't any better than IPS, in fact there are only 3 VA monitors that I know of, which are just as good or better than the majority of 60HZ IPS monitors; benq 35" (144hz), samsung 34" and eizo 23.5" (native 120HZ)

IIRC the philips 40" 4k monitor has quite high input lag and moderate response times, iirc about 7-8ms on average and up to 20ms for max value, the average value is similar to a good 60HZ IPS screen but the max value is quite a bit higher.

VA have a noticeable "trailing" effect when it comes to transitions between dark and bright objects which can be very off putting for many people.

I'm sure there will be a massive thread on Overclock.net on these panels. They love their Korean stuff. However and someone correct me if I'm wrong but didn't OCUK sell the Catleap stuff? If they did then they might stock these but it will be more expensive than buying from the auction site as they need to account for shipping, tax and profit.

Some western companies picked up the same models as OEMs.
