Im planning on replacing my 04 Clio and one on top of my shortlist is a 07-09 Mondeo. The cars I am seeing on the ads have 70k-120k there are some over 130k but I skip them. Should I consider the above 130k cars?

How is the interior in these cars? I really dont want another rattly interior as I already endured one for 3 years :p

Is the 2.0 TDCI 140 really better than the 1.8 TDCI 125 ?

Mechanically wise what should I look out for and how can I test them during the test drive?

Do all models have reverse sensor? Parkers says only certain but not sure how accurate it is. Sensor is not required but will be nice to have.

Are there any common and annoying electrical faults / signs to avoid?

I have an '08 2.0 TDCi 140 on 190K miles and it does an adequate job on my 40mile a day commute, nothing special but it has been very reliable for the past 10K I've owned it. The spec is reasonable but parking sensors are an extra not standard so check.

The usual issues are -

Blocked DPF's due to <3 mile runs (like most diesels would be).
Clutch/DMF (mine is on the original @ 190K miles so luck of the draw & driving style helps).
Knocking steering rack (mine has this and it's £1k+ to fix at Ford).
Poor cabin fan pressure caused by a blocked pollen filter (1hr to change and a right git).
ABS lights from a chafed sensor cable on the rears where it passes through the body.

I added a £250 HeadUnit (Eonon - thread on Motors somewhere) which fits the odd shape perfectly and gives Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Reverse camera etc and it's the best thing I've bought for it.

I've got the 2.0 petrol Titanium rather than TDCI, but it's a pleasant enough place to be. No major faults with it over the last four years of ownership apart from a failed rear central locking motor and an issue with the wiring loom for an ABS sensor (which was a complete PITA to find)

Cheers for the protips.
Regarding the DPF I don't think I will have an issue as the drive to work is mostly UK A roads and Irish motorway unless I managed to get a nearly or already blocked DPF.

Does the ABS light problem an intermittent light like it can go off for a while and back again?

Yep, that's what my car did for a time until the loom broke completely - then it stayed on :D

My ABS loom on the rear left has gone twice. The first time was before I owned it and it was badly repaired by someone using cheap halfords crimps which looked like they'd been compressed with his teeth. The 2nd time was when the previous crimp had failed so the light was on permanently. I did the repair using my trade tools (took 5mins) and it's been fine since.

Just did a search on the Eonon headunit upgrade and it looks nice and seems easy enough to do but I will probably leave it stock for a while if I decide to get the Mondeo.

I did consider Hondas (Accord/Civic) but so far the ads are way too far from me or have crazy mileage like 150k+ or suspiciously cheap. I am keeping an eye out for a Honda closer though while browsing for Mondeos.
