Hey,

With E3 almost over and reading over the biggest E3 flops. It got me thinking of the good times I had with the Sega Saturn. A console that was more or less set up for failure. Still, it had some outstanding games:

Panzer Dragoon saga
Virtua Fighter 2
Sega Rally
Swag man
Dragon Force
Knights

Stacks more, initially even Tomb Raider was going to be a console exclusive from Core until Eidos put a stop to that.

So, whats your Sega Saturn memories?

I loved the Panzer dragoon series especially Zwei. Sega Rally was incredible at the time and Exhumed was a classic.
Bought mine on launch day for silly money

Still got my Saturn hooked up to my TV, only once has it let me down (turned out the CR2302 battery needed changing)

Been playing Bug recently, had forgotten how frustrating platformers can be

I got a Saturn from a charity shop last summer with a ton of boxed games.
I replaced the battery and it was dead again the next day. Perhaps the battery was faulty. Anyway I have an action replay now.

Personally I feel the Saturn was the king of side scrollers and a bit poor at 3D.

I remember going into a local computer store as back then high street independent video game stores were still around , went in to buy a Saturn , walked out with a PlayStation . I blame wipeout for that one.

I never did buy a Saturn and decided to make up for that with a Dreamcast. What a great machine to see such a sad end..

I owned 2 Saturns over the years, some of the best gaming I ever did.

Anyone remember the free game called Death Tank ? :D

Sad end to Sega in general, only if they didn't waste their cash on useless hardware such as the 32x.

It was conflict within the company, sega america wanted the 32x as the genisus was selling amazing still and sega japan wanted a new console. Hence the odd decisions that were made.

A Sega Saturn thread without a mention Shining The Holy Ark?! That was such a great game, I'd love to play a remastered version of that.

So true! Shame on us! Classic that deserves a remake. The real shame is it never got the audience it deserved.

Never heard of this somehow:eek:

I was a massive beat em up fan back then.

Xmen: children of the atom and street fighter alpha 2 were unmatched by the play station version.

Then you had fighters megamix, which was the best 3d fighter of the time. I never liked tekken.

Other than that, I loved sega rally. That was my favourite racer until gran turismo changed everything.

One of my best memories of childhood was going into town to pick up my Saturn with Sega Rally, it was awesome.

I remember I had an agreement with my parents that if I could raise half the money I'd get to upgrade my Mega Drive to a Saturn.

Sold my Mega Drive and around 30 games for about £150, and used some pocket money I'd saved. The original joypad is still one of my top 3 joypads I've used.
