**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

So my cheap magnetic dock at work has decided to not charge any more. It's either that or the magnetic charging points on my phone have stopped!

Can't confirm until home after work as no spare magnetic cables here.

i bought one of those adaptors. pricey at £10-£15. but it's very strong and will work with any normal charger.

so i take one charger on holiday and just put my adapter on when switching from phone to tablet.

sometimes the connection isn't 100% like it's to one side more than the other but it charges fine. takes a bit of a fiddle to get it 100%. i think the magnet might be too powerful.

Re the charger, I had an issue that the Sony one wouldn't work from a USB charging hub. Would charge if direct or a cheap eBay one but not the Sony. Got it replaced and the replacement did the same so I moved the inserts to the cheap eBay one as they gave a better fit and use that now. It used to work so an update must have broken it

I'm starting to get used to the phone, but I miss 2 functions from touchwiz greatly still, can anyone tell me if it's possible to :

- Make it go silent with an incoming call when turning it upside down ( screen down)
- To make it directly call the main number when I swipe a contact to the right in the contacts list, or message when swiping to the left.

Both are major annoyances, the first one I know I can push just about any other buttom like power, but turning it screen down is easier.
The second thing is blatantly a 33% increase in actions to phone someone, which is annoying.

Go to settings -> personalisation -> Motion and turn on Smart Call Handling, that will give u the facility to turn the phone upside down to silence a call.

Can't help you on point 2 but I've seen what you mean on Touchwhiz, maybe I never got use to it but I found it annoying almost in wanting to tap a contact and it would either call or go to SMS for that person

Thanks, got it!

Once you get used to it, the ''normal'' way just seems annoying, it's an extra screen & click you need to call someone. Normally you don't need anything but the top number of a contact!

Exdialer has that swipe feature.

Thanks, Exdialer looks far nicer than the stock dialer&contacts app overall too.

Installed it, some reviews said it's a 7 day trial though, is this true, because I saw the ''pro'' version cost 3.19 euros , bit much to fix what should be standard...

Btw, now that I think of it, what keyboard does this phone use ? I keep making many typos/errors and unwanted spaces, it doesn't feel right, is it swiftkey like on the Samsung phones, or some other kb ? Also miss the Bi-language suggestions. I often type in Eng, Dutch and Polish and additionally also internet acronyms, street language, etc..., but only get Dutch suggestions until it ''learns''. I already disabled auto corection as that nearly drove me mad. Swiping also seems to work worse than I'm used to ( which is very annoying when texting in the car, yes I use a holder, but swiping with 1 hand is faster than typing with 1 hand).

Installed Swiftkey now too, only used to for 5 mins and already feels much better, far superior word prediction/suggestions.

Why anyone uses that rubbish experia KB is beyond me.

Hmm, I'll see in the next 7 days if it's worth it/if there are not free alternatives.

Just seems odd paying for something that should be in free, themes I don't really care about but the swiping and speed of it is better than the stock dialer.

A different question, what kinds of speed are you guys getting on 4G ? Does this phone support 4G+ ( 1800mhz), my provider is rolling out 4G+ in my town now, but I can't seem to find data about what speeds I should be getting in practise ( provider promises 225 mbit max), this is a speedtest I did last night:

Seems a bit slow. Was in the back of moving a car though.
