Surprising use for Dash Cams.

My phone with GPS tells me I'm doing 75, whilst my satnav tells me I'm doing 70, both at the same time.. Given my spedo will also be stating 70, I'm more inclined to believe the satnav.

Dash cams are rubbish.

I hit a pedestrian in a 30MPH zone whilst doing 41MPH. The police seized my dash cam. They have just charged me for causing death by dangerous driving. They stated that the dash cam evidence of me speeding was enough for CPS to consider the charge.

Modern technology made my life hell.

This is advertising bait.

The OP story is total BS. If he was stopped for speeding and given a specific number, it was recorded evidentially. VASCAR or Speeder Follow. If that was the case then whatever his dashcam showed is largely meaningless. It's not calibrated, the time stamps are not proven and it's validity as evidence is questionable.

The conversation would have gone something like this:

Police - You've been stopped for speeding, going 75mph, here is the evidence.
Driver - But look at my dashcam!!!
Police - That's nice, see you in court.

The time stamps for my dashcam come straight from the GPS signal so are about as accurate as you're going to get. It will be valid evidence at court but ultimately it's up to the court to decide which evidence holds more weight.
