5 Series or 3 series GT?

The 5GT is exceptional value for money and IMHO anyone who turns one down in favour of a regular 5 Series is mad and perhaps a little too bothered about how the car looks.

I mean... who'd do that.

Oh :(

Come on the 5 GT IS ugly:eek: you don't even get the electronic spoiler with it.
Not saying that it is game changer, just my view.

I went to the dealership to check out the 5 series and on my way out i just noticed the 3 GT and thought what the hell is that?

Took it fir a spin and it kind of grew on me.

Seen a few 3GT's around here. They are fugly too. The 5 is really where the smart money goes. The GT so long as you don't care too much about looks.

Na the ride is a lot smoother Fox. As pointed out in a few 3 GT reviews and i did drive the 5 and the 3 GT on the same day on the same route and would have to most defiantly concur that it is true, also with a slightly raised driving position which the "normal" 3 does not give you.

My wife has a 5GT and she loves it. Sure, its ugly, but honestly, you don't care when you're inside as it's a lovely place to be.

It's certainly better value than a regular 5 or touring, but you have to be able to put up with the looks.

The middle seat on the rear bench is also pretty uncomfortable!

So the OP asks for decision on 3series GT or 5 series.
Gets advised to get a 5series GT.
Not bad motors, not bad...:D

Why? It drives like the rest of the 3 Series range

********... no they don't... you can feel the extra length & weight

3GT feels closer to 5 series... but less stable

That's why I didn't have any reason to question the sales rep telling me it was a 5 series chassis with 3 series suspension :p

This is a bit of a stretch, they are the two most similar looking models in the entire BMW range!

I had this discussion recently with one of their sales guys. He was incensed! They're totally different don't you know!
