*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Variks has a warlock chest with +159 dis and increased armour + melee recharge on Fallen PoE, so worth grabbing.

The titan one is +173 INT and the fallen bonus....will get that too.

Weapon is the shotgun which looks poop.

What do you think an exotic class item is and why would it replace the G'horn?

ps3ud0

This is the post I was replying to:

So legendary edition gets an exclusive exotic which also boosts their XP? That could be worth the money as I hate doing bounties plus the exotic might be a game changer (RIP Gjallahorn).

The exotic is a class item hence my confusion over the "RIP G'horn" part.

He [DeeJ] added a bit more
The weekly update is going to be interesting. Bungie surely know that Luke Smith's interview has done nothing but upset the fans who've supported the game for the past 9 months. How they react to that could make a big difference in terms of how many of those fans decide to drop money on The Taken King. I know I'll be very interested to see what Deej has to say this week.

Well I've ruled myself out of optical media (thanks to Steam) so it's digital only for me anyway. I'll take what they give on there. And I hate trinkets that you get in collector's editions of things. They just are unnecessary clutter to my wannabe-Japanese-minimalist mindset. :p

And anyone who dances in front of me would get a virtual slap if they did one. I just have to melee them instead.

Hm, so if I buy TTK DLC, I'm down £125 on Destiny.

If I owned nothing, but bought TTK legendary i'd be £55 down. (no doubt available for less at some point)

So current users of game and both dlc's have had to pay more than double for the same content. Not to mention any new expansion will make getting to level cap quicker. £15 extra nets you the base game, plus expansion 1 and 2 - so basically giving the best deal to people who are not customers yet - guess that's how most things work.

But with other things, you can contact the company and hassle them for 5-10 mins and get the same deal.

I've got hours/value out of the game, and I understand this is the way with MMO style expansions but it certainly makes me wonder why I'd bother when I could just wait a year and buy the final version. Everyone will be jumping back on for it so I'll have missed nothing really - other than the long grind.

I had 6 months off recently, and within 2 weeks of HoW I had 3x 34s, loads of 365 weapons and about 20 new exotics.

When I see everyone on, I'll probably get it - but in future I'll be waiting for the final expansion.

I've just created a backlog list of about 100 games I own but have never played, so as I start working through them I'll be quite happily letting releases come and go, then just pick them up later.

Unless it's something I really, really want or can play a lot with others - that's where Destiny gets me to be honest. So I know I'll come back to it as it's fun to play in groups

News just in....games are cheaper a year after launch than on release day :p

Well yeah base game is cheap now, but DLCs are not and TTK is well over-priced for owners of the current content.

New customers get the whole bundle for £55, but if you already own all DLCs there should certainly be some kind of discount offered. But this never happens in the gaming industry.

The game will be 1 year old as you say - so should they really charge us £40 for content for a 12 month old game that is now £10?
That's my point - there is new content but the base game is the same so the DLC should not be the price of the original games release price.

As I say, with most other things I buy I could get the discount if I ask, but games are just fixed - you either pay or or get lost.

If you own the game, they are basically just saying 'buy this 12 month old game for full retail price'

I asked this a long time ago and never got a reply so will ask again, as I'm not playing it any more. Is there anyone who wants to "lead" the OcUK Destiny clan, or effectively be promoted as an administrator for it :p
Or is there anyone that you feel should or could be in such a position.

I don't get it? The minor expansions are 20 quid, the major expansion is 40 quid.

I'll reserve judgement on the relative 'value' of TTK vs TDB and HoW but every indication points to it being in line with the previous expansions in terms of content for your money.

Is it platform specific?

Just read the interview, OMG, what a teabag.

I did enjoy Destiny and I still pop on there occasionally for a few PvP session but with so "many" games I am sinking time on, this game no longer have a hold on me and I'm glad I'll be saving the £40 and throw it all at a pipboy whilst I play the other time sinker in November.

That makes me Emote more.

I'm thinking the same too.
Destiny is an alright game, but it isn't anything special unless you've got 2 friends with PS4's who play with you 24/7.

I've got an absolute tonne of triple-A games to play on PC, so will probably end up dropping Destiny because it's just too much of a time sink.
