*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

There is a lot to be said for how friendly and sociable Destiny is in game. The only time you have to put up with obnoxious **** on voice comms is when you get a bad group from LFG.

Remember that Destiny is working with 512MB of memory on previous gen consoles, that *really* limits what they can do in terms of expansive worlds. What they have done on that hardware is pretty incredible as it is.

Fingers crossed that Destiny 2 ditches last-gen....if that happens they are going to really be able to go to town with it.

They've already announced this elsewhere so not sure why they are saying to wait for the weekly bungie update

That's separate to what Deej is referring to though. He's said the year 1 players will receive something better than the Collector's Edition bonuses, and he'll explain in the Weekly Update. He's certainly got some damage control to do, the fallout from thet Luke Smith interview is gaining a lot of attention in the gaming media. They can't afford to ignore it now.

I feel that 512MB stuff is just an excuse too do less work, its easy enough to pass of that work and focus on something else. Imagine if PC games worked like that, oh we can't give you any extra features cause people have computers from 2007 that need to run this game as well.

They could very easily make it as a up selling point, getting more people too the next gen, also it punishes people that have paid a decent chunk of money too get the next gen console but there still limited by the last gen :/.

One thing I would like is just standard chat with your crucible team and so on, with the PS4 having a headphone jack I would assume a lot more people have mics and it would be much easier to organise heavy ammo, capture points and so on if you can just communicate without having too be in a fire team, and anyone that doesn't want too hear voices can just toggle off the team chat so its still win win.

you really think its going to be more than a year 1 founder emblem shader and sparrow ?

I'd be delighted to prove wrong, but its not going to be anything more than something like that. No way is it what people actually want, which is the collectors edition exclusive content in a cheaper package that doesn't make us re buy our existing content.

they already have this, but you have to chose to opt into it. Anybody in patrol mode can chose to opt into it when in the same zone as others who can also enter into the same voice channel. This works for match made fireteams in crucible. Have you never noticed the text prompt that the "Team voice chat now available" at the bottom in crucible games ?

Its been there since last year ! in patch 1.0.3

Hey guys, I've just bought the two existing Destiny DLCs after having ditched the game just prior to the release of TDB. How 'out of the loop' am I going to be? What should I be doing to get levelled up to the the required standard for the raids etc?

I had got to max level and had some pretty good maxed out guns (e.g., Icebreaker, Gjalla, etc) so I wonder if they will still hold their own.

I stopped playig for a long time... Come back and i was level 31, only took me a few days and a bit of help with POE34 to get to level 34.

Gjalla is still the weapon to have on the game. I seem to be only person on destiny who hasnt got one.

You need etheric light to upgrade your armor / weapons to the max level

You get this from doing the level 34 or level 35 prison of elders / nightfalls / trials of osiris (ultra high end PVP 3v3 competition) or from iron banner. You can help yourself get to level 34 by doing the level 32 prison of elders which rewards you with a level 34 piece of armor.

Iron banner isn't on now so your best source is to do Prison of Elders. what level are your characters ?

They'll definitely have something above and beyond what they've announced already. I wonder if they'll take inspiration from Guild Wars and give Year 1 players extra character slots, or something along those lines?
I'm less confident that they'll change the pricing/packaging structure. They've said they'll revisit the goals for the different packages, which sounds like they're just going to try and explain the reasoning for it. We'll find out tomorrow evening at least.

What is the format of the higher levels of Prison of Elders?

28 is four rounds of 3 waves of each enemy type and then a random boss fight.

What about the other ones?

Like I said, I sincerely doubt it would be anything that useful. THey don't give a **** what we think when it contradicts what they want.

Case in point ? the Atheon "fix" on who got sent into the portals. Everybody said loud and clear that they prefered the method where they could chose who went in as it made it more tactical.

Bungie gave us a big *%!$ you and kept it the way they wanted.

Just like what we said about their crusade against the auto rifles. The stats show that all that has happened is that the community have moved from auto rifles to hand cannons. The community will always find the best guns, and you will never create a game where all these different weapon types including exotics are all equally as efficient as the next gun with no one gun or gun type better than the others.

Level 32 & 34 are the same, just higher level enemies and different boss fights / modifiers. Level 35 is the same but with a 6th round fight against Skolas.

LOL I remember when they lied about the Atheon teleport glitch and how it was 'random' the furthest away were teleported rather than coded that way.

Bungie is a sub-par developer so Id be cautious in any offerings they give to persuade you to buy their next DLC - even if tomorrow alleviates some qualms you have to question why their PR was setup to announce things in such order.

None of those issues have blown up quite like this one and found it's way onto the news pages of pretty much every major gaming website. There's even a petition running on change.org with 30K signatures!

I'll be very, very surprised if there's not a reasonably decent perk for Year 1 players. Whether it will be enough to appease the masses is doubtful though.

This is in the US so I don't know the situation here but Red Bull have an exclusive quest for TKK and some XP boost http://quest.redbull.com/us/en

Which will be available to everyone else who didn't buy any Red Bull on 1st January 2016. Again, this is US so not sure what happens with other territories.

LOL I saw that but decided not to post it :p. Destiny has had other such promotions in the past in the US - just a really bad week for Bungie :p

I'm no Destiny fan but the fact you have to buy 2 lots of DLC in order to be able to buy and play another lot of DLC is a total **** take. You have to spend money in order to be able to spend even more money?! What a joke.

I think I'm done with Destiny. It's been great, the game has a fluidity to it that not many games can rival but it's just getting tedious now. Then again I have put some considerable hours in to it so it's lasted longer than any other game would have.

I'm just hoping that Planetside 2 is as good on the ps4 as it is on the pc. That'll bury Destiny for me once and for all.

And I still don't have a bloody jellyhorn!

I don't know what it'll be, but I do believe it'll be more than the shader, emblem and sparrow.

Bungie, in general, aren't stupid. Deej isn't stupid. They know the value of the community they've built up, and they know how outraged that community is over the Luke Smith interview. It's a PR nightmare that has the potential to cost them a lot of sales. I know it might only seem like a vocal minority but the wider this story goes the more the casual fans will catch wind of it, and it will affect them as well. Bungie want to make Destiny a 10 year game, and that can only happen if you have a passionate community who takes an interest and drives it forward. Right now that community is upset. They know they need to do something to appease them. What that actually is remains to be seen, which is why I'm looking forward to seeing what Deej has to say in the Weekly Update. I don't think they can afford to do nothing though. I don't think they'll risk it.

All I constantly see is Bungie fighting fires, they havent had the intelligence to look up and work out why they start in the first place.

Im interested in what Deej will say but unless its to announce they are putting a raid back in FOC (the one that they 'removed' from HoW) then its just empty digital platitudes.
