Xperia Tablet Z

I've held off allowing it to update as ive heard stories of screens flashing when typing, any comments?

Is this the 4.3 update? it showed up on mine but after rushing in last time I'm a little of wary of updating to it before finding out any potential issues heh.

EDIT: Seems it is - the (very far from ideal) work around until Sony pull thei thumb out is to disable hardware acceleration in the develop options (tap 7 times on build number entry to enable it in settings, about).

Mine only does it when I'm typing in the browser, other than that I've not come across any major issue's.

I dont know what people mean by "flicker" - but Ive had terrible video driver corruption issues (it will disappear for days, and then suddenly I refresh a chrome tab and page doesnt re-write properly and it flashes between like full res and 640*480 or something multiple times a second until I reboot. Not just in Chrome just easiest way to describe it.

Did the update last night, havent seen it since but Im not hopeful its gone completely (upgrade itself went flawlessly however, and it took less than 5 minutes)

See my post 401 above - not ideal but should sort it, still haven't done the 4.3 update yet probably gonna wait for the next one.

Just done the 4.3 update, don't really get the flicker - happens briefly first time the keyboard opens after a reboot then fine after that.

Loss of the quicktray and small browser is a bit annoying and seems the sound quality has dropped - think they've tried to compensate for some small distortion issues and ended up making those frequencies more noticeably loose and uncontrolled instead.

Updated to 4.4 last night.

Also anyone using the stock charger that is the reason your tablet takes so long to charge!! I try my gfs nexus 7 charger and it's twice as fast. I've now bought an anker 40w charger for it.

Yeah as I said in the other thread - been through 3 of the official Z chargers and tested with a USB Multimeter and they are all providing waaay below their rated specs.

Updated mine to 4.4 the other day, didn't know that about the charger better get a different one.

Dunno if its a general problem but a lot of people do complain about slow charging with the Z - the charger is rated for 5v and upto 1500mA but the ones I've tested most only manage around 720mA and some do a bit better but fluctuate around 1000mA +/- approx 200mA. Using other brand higher rated chargers and the tablet itself charges at 2000+mA fine and is much quicker to charge.

Ah thats interesting to hear. Stupidly I've never really considered the charger when think "why does this tablet take so damn long to charge...".

Will be might impressed when my anker charger gets here and halfs the time!

I will be keeping this tablet for a long time I think as the charging was the only real issue I had..

Don't really use mine anymore - actually got replaced by a 8" Windows tablet :S but had it on the side as a 4G router/occasionally browse internet with max power savings enabled and just heard the low battery notification (<15%) it had clocked up 22 days, 3 hours on battery with estimated 4 days, 4 hours left - quite impressive (that is actually about 22 hours worth of screen on time).

Miss the form factor but I do too much stuff where having actual Windows is an advantage.
