So I was walking through the City at lunch today and it suddenly dawned on me, literally everyone (male) is wearing blue suits. And then I noticed it back at work, and now I can't stop noticing it. There's just blue suits everywhere!

Was there some 'Business Man' convention that I missed the memo for where this was agreed, or have all men just collectively decided blue is now the thing?

I feel outdated with my grey and black suit collection :(

Blue suits are the norm. Although mine only gets pulled out for the odd special occasion! Usually stick to black n grey

Yes blue does indeed seem to be the colour of the moment. I do like a nice well fitting navy suit. Sadly I'm stuck with grey as my old navy suit no longer fits but I will be getting another soon.

I've also seen a big uptick in the number of people wearing separate jackets and trousers as the work environment becomes a little less formal.

I'm in a blue suit heading in to the city then Canary Wharf from Stafford. I'm not wearing oxfords though, preferring a nice pair of Oliver Sweany plain blacks. Joking aside I've noticed a move away from anything non blue and also noticed pleasingly a more casual attire, which is my preference these days.

So like your views, your wardrobe is also outdated and just plain jaded

What the? Where did that come from? Do I know you?

Yeah, lots of blue suits but not many ties. Personally I avoid wearing a suit as much as possible, and have only worn a tie for the odd day here and there over the last few years.

You do get some odd juxtapositions, when a guy in a full three piece suit with tie pin and the full works, sits next to a guy in open collar and sleeves rolled up.

I only where a tie these days when going to meet senior executives I've not met before or with people I know to be formal, such as today. If I am office bound I tend to wear jeans and jacket, if meeting people I know same or suited without tie.

Silver seems to be popular among younger chaps I find, 18-25. I see more blue with the 25+ age group.

But that's just where I work.

Same here. I rarely need to be quite so formal and on the occasions I do then a tie needs to be worn. Otherwise wearing a suit without a tie just looks a little sloppy to me. So trousers or jeans with a seperate sports jacket seems to be a nice middle ground; not too formal but still better than the majority of people wearing jeans, a polo shirt and an old casual jacket.

I must admit though, that I do enjoy wearing a suit occasionally.

Ive 5 navy suits, 3 of them the same. I also have grey and black suits and a few pin stripes, which frankly very few people younger than 55 seem to wear these days!
