and have come back with varying answers, but I need to make a decision. I have two EVGA 980 SC ref design cards. Do I keep them and put waterblocks myself or should I sell them and buy a single EVGA 980 Ti Hydro Copper? Or even buy a OCUK tech labs version?

I could stretch to buying two EVGA 980 Ti Hydro's, but will one be better for consistent frame rates? I hate it when frame dips are noticeable!

Buy blocks, they are all EKwb full cover blocks anyway. i dont see the point in going from SLI 980 to SLI980 ti unless your avg fps is lackluster. They are very easy to fit and upgrading wont be cheap considering the small increase in performance. I suppose with that logic, it isnt worth watercooling based on price/performance either :D

My main reason for going watercooling was the looks over performance but performance is a bonus:)

As for 980 SLI. I see far too many random drops in FPS for my liking... plus I'm playing at 4K so surely 980 Ti is the way to go?

Playing at 4k changes things. I guess it would be worth it if you had the cash to splash. I went water for looks and cant go back to air because of temps.

2 tis would be ideal for 4k 60hz. You won't need to turn down any games. Even the Witcher 3 stays above 42fps always with 2 980tis overclocked.

So consensus now is 2x 980 Ti... so should I buy the hydro copper from EVGA when they have stock for £630 or buy now from OCUK with the tech labs cards?

Upto you, I have the hydro and it's just a ek block but with evga branding on it and a white led fitted to make it glow up.

Yes but its also at a good factory overclock whereas I am left with random card lottery from OCUK? Out of interest how did you get hold of one? They are so rare!

You can acquire the bios easily enough and flash a ocuk one if your wanting to save money.

Bought it from OCUK when they had 4 in stock :)

Ouch was going to do the same but £100 premium just to have it early sucks. It's £630 on the EVGA website.

Does flashing the bios make it like the Hydro Copper? Surely not as the memory is probably from different places etc?

You'll be old and wrinkly before EVGA get stock on their site it seems.

It'll give it the same clock speeds etc.
