I am looking for an external display(s) for my MBP, early 2011 15 inch. I only have 1x thunderbolt port.

Now regarding the displays themselves, I am looking at the following 2

Dell U2715h
Dell U2515h

If there are any other screens with similar specs that you would suggest looking at please let me know.

I have been doing a little reading regarding daisy chaining of displays and wondering if its possible to run say 2 screens from the single thunderbolt port on the mbp, I understand you need display port version 1.2, and or MST (multi stream transport enabled)

Can anyone help/advise/tell me if you have anything like this running. I only really need one display but interested potentially if two can be run. I realise once I get a newer MBP i will have 2x thunderbolt instead of my current 1.

Thanks in advance for all help

I use a Dell U2515H running with my MacBook Air and it is wonderful. Fantastic monitor and I highly recommend it, particularly as there is a large price gap between it and the U2715H :)

Thanks Chives. I was wondering if I had asked a silly question or something.

Do you use it for photo editing by any chance? This will be my main use.

I'm 99% sure on one of these now. Just ordered a 13" rMBP and want a nice big display to go with it to hopefully fix what I felt is wrong with my 15" non-retina Macbook Pro:

It's too big (for portability)
It's too small (for working at home)

I just think 4k is out of my reach in terms of money, as much as I'd like it I'd be looking at really bottom of the barrel so I think I will swerve it altogether for now. TFT central review is pretty much glowing and the price is right.

I use my 2014 15" with a Dell U2715h. Its brilliant, it copes well, (also used a 2013 from my old work with it).

Just a question of weather you want the extra pixels / lighter wallet.

There are no extra pixels. They're both 1440p? All you're gaining is 2" real estate.

Both of the monitors are great choices, Im tempted with them myself.

The heart says go for the 27" model but my head says buy the much cheaper but equally brilliant 25" model.
