Mini Cooper D -any advice

Guys I have just put a deposit in a 2011 Mini Cooper D with only 18000 miles on the clock .

Great spec Xenons , Cruise , Panaramic Roof , Harmon Kardon stereo, 17 inch Alloys and a Full warranted Mini History .

Anything I should know or must do's ? Is it worth a remap ?

What is the point in the Cooper D? Yet another car I see more than the petrol variant now. Surely anyone doing 15+k a year to warrant a diesel would not buy a mini as it's hardly a good car to be in on the motorway

We went for the 1.6 petrol Cooper over the diesel, does about 50mpg on a long 70mph journey.

Not sure I see the point in the diesel one, if you are doing the sort of miles where its saving credible money would you really want to be doing it in a Mini?

My sister has the 1.6d in her Mini and it isn't hugely more efficient.

Spec on yours sounds very good though.

I do around 26000 miles a year so Diesel is the better option. Ride wise it's similar to the Fiesta Zetec S that I am chopping in against it s I'm more than happy with that.

Interesting choice for 26k a year. It isn't particularly refined and the ride on those 17s gets annoying fast, I swapped them for a set of 15s and it transforms the way it drives.

Does the Mini D use the PSA DV6 engine that is also used in Ford, Volvo, Citroen, Mazda cars? If it is the same engine, we have the 110 bhp version in my wife's C4 Picasso, whilst not a great noise, it produces decent torque and makes for relaxed cruising on the motorway as it will 70 at 2100rpm (digital rev counter so hard to get exact), but it isn't a driver's engine more an economy minded engine.

Also Citroen recommend cambelt changes every 100,000 miles, not sure what Mini advise, as 26k miles per year will soon rack up.
