Disney bans selfie sticks

They're extremely dangerous on rides. All measurements in terms of required distances are based on human arms plus a margin not human arms plus a metre stick. If a stick was being used on a coaster and hit track the phone or camera debris would hit the passengers.

Selfie Sticks, along with Facebook, Flickr, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Twitter, Vine it's all just a load of attention seeking rubbish and I am glad to say I have an account for none of them and I don't intend on changing that!

Just like people who think it's cool and amazing to not actually write anything on forums, but to instead post an animated gif, meme or video. It's all just pathetic and embarrassing really what the Internet has become in the past 10 years. The majority of the Internet population these days have zero personality and nothing to offer apart from copying and competing with each other as to who can post the best content and show it (which is also likely copied and recycled content anyway).

I just don't buy into this social media rubbish and this generation of people taking "selfies" and what not, it is rather lame but apparently everyone else jumped on the bandwagon and think it's cool, I must be a minority these days.

What a world we live in these days

If you are using LinkedIn in the same way as Facebook et al then frankly you are doing it wrong.

What is lame is people thinking that they are above these different social media platforms, i.e. the type that just characterize it all as rubbish and lame, when what you get out of it is largely down to how you use it ... you put garbage it in you get garbage out ...

you are a bit backwards, linkedin in particular is very useful - it can replace CVs, opens up job opportunities - connects people in similar fields

facebook is likely going to be an historic resource in future - it would be fascinating if we could go back and see the posts of historic figures

twitter is pretty useful too

google+ on the other hand is a bit naff

Would you like a giant sugar cube for that high horse of yours?

I took my son to the zoo and was surprised by the sheer number of selfie sticks. Selfie pictures with elephants in the background etc. Tbh it doesn't bother me. That these girls think pouting is more attractive than a nice smile does, or the ironic pouting that's done to death. That is more irritating than a selfie stick :D

Or people that have to take one of those gopro things with them everywhere.

At least a Go Pro can take cool videos (like when skiing or surfing) or decent quality pictures. Not only are selfies on phones bloody stupid, they use the awful front facing cameras too!

So rather than a nice picture if an elephant, they have a 640x480 pixelated mess of a pouty face with part of an elephant barely visible in the background :p.

I expect they are more concerned about them getting caught and ripping peoples arms off. Given the Alton Towers crash I imagine safety on rides is being considerably stepped up.

I was told that verbatim from a Disney excec about 2 months ago (prior to the Alton crash). Safety is always the number one concern

Yeah agreed, except I see them at swimming pools etc. Taking videos going round a lazy river and the like. I guess these days you just have to get used to a camera being everywhere.

LinkedIn was probably a bad example, to be honest Youtube could have been added in there, it bugs me when every person who uploads a video has to write and say "comment, like and subscribe" that's basically a way of attention seeking, if people like your video enough they will respond in the way they see fit, they don't need there hands holding all the way and been brainwashed to do something. This generation is full of sheep who all flock to the next thing in there droves.

Would you like a giant sugar cube for that high horse of yours?

Look at you mr big, did you think of that for yourself or was it one of the many recycled jokes that you took from elsewhere?

I don't see how my opinion of anti-social rubbish media puts me on a high horse. Apparently that's the way it is, I imagine you use one of many of those platforms I listed before and are very defensive over it.

They all are lame and pathetic, it's my opinion, if you are one of the many sheep who use it congratulations you for jumping on the bandwagon, if you don't then I salute you for having a brain and can think for yourself.
