*** Nokia Lumia 930 ***

Windows 10 for mobile won't be out before the autumn, maybe even 2016 so I wouldn't hold your breath for a flagship phone from Microsoft !!

That is a shame I think, as I reckon that there is a market for a new attractive high spec. Windows 'flagship' phone.

Personally I can't decide whether to go for a 930 or to get the somewhat lower spec. (but newer!) 640 and then 'upgrade' once a Windows 10 flagship model is eventually launched.

Decisions, decisions!

I hope the rumours are true.
940 and 940xl
5.2 or 5.7" QHD
Gorilla glass 4
300mah & 3300mah for xl
3gb ram
Qualcomm octal core probably 810
20mp pure view, 4k at 60p video
5mp front camera
Micro sd
Triple led flash
Iris scan

But like all rumours pinch of salt.

I hope we get iris or finger print. It's the only thing I like about my work ip6. Much better than typing in pass code.

Personally I'd wait for the new flagship as some features of Windows 10 won't be available on any of the current phones including the 930.

As an aside Amazon keep running out of the 930 which could indicate supply problems leading up to the launch of a new model, maybe !!

Windows Insider just installed Windows 10 to my Lumia 930 :D

Was a bit of a fiddle though, it installed (took all night), then I had to do refresh to get it working. Otherwise the start screen gets stuck on "Loading..."

It is sluggish but i wouldn't say unuseable. It's something to do while i am stuck in work "just in case".

I am getting a few bugs. But that's mostly in Spartan really. Do like the changes though, done good improvements. Loving the nipple!

Well my orange 930 went back to the rain forest, only because I had the chance of a new green version for a bargain price (a mate bought on and hated it). Will be putting the camera to the test as I'm off on a short holiday soon and my digital compact has died.

Anyone gone to a Microsoft phone from the HTC One M7 Android?

I've had my M& for 2 years nearly, it works flawlessly and I've had no issues with it other than the battery being poor.

Willing to Give Microsoft a go, seeing as we will be getting these in work. Am I better to hold on for a new launch of phones soon? Snippets of the press I've seen suggests some new phones for Windows 10, but this may not be for a few months yet?

Yes, I have... although I do still have the M7!

I don't really have the need for a 'high end' model, as I also have a OnePlus One on Vodafone, so I ported my number over from the HTC One M7 to a Microsoft Lumia 640 on EE. I went with EE as I already have one 'line' with them so got a second one for £14.99 a month with 500 minutes which is more than enough for me. Their WiFi Calling feature was something else which appealed, an it will certainly do me until Windows Mobile 10 has settled down, and some more phones have been released!

If you are used to using Windows 8.1 on your desktop PC, then the Mobile version shouldn't give you any problems at all... and I was able to sync in my gmail account and contacts also, which is a bonus.

As I mentioned in that section of this Forum, I am more impressed with the Lumia 640 than I thought I would be, as I like the simple styling and find a 5" screen to be a good size.... looking at the "Images of Items I have Purchased" thread it appears that a few other members have gone for this model from EE also.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into both models and see what I decide. The M7 still works well for me, so I'm unsure what I'll do yet.

I have just realised that we are probably in the wrong thread here, but I will be interested to hear what decision you do eventually make.

Is there a way to get this phone to read out the caller id when I get a call?

any good ?

"To turn on Speech for accessibility, tap Settings > Ease of access, and then turn on for phone accessibility. This enables the following:
Talking caller ID for phone calls. When you get a call, your phone will announce the name or number of the caller."

I dont have it as an option :(

Just took delivery of a second one for the missus. Delivery took three weeks from Voda as they are eol but they have dropped the price plans for them as well. Unlimited everything and 8GB data for £40.00 pm, but as I work for them it is only going to cost her £20.00.

Annoyingly I pay more than that with a gig less data as I bought mine in December.
