*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

meh,Not bothered about cinematics at all bud. all stuff once seen will just be a pain to sit through again.

So I'll get 4 new strikes and a raid for £40 (don't do PvP)
The last two DLC was only £35 for more, this is just plain 'milking the cow' now.

Bungie set the precedence themselves by selling two DLC's for £35 - now that was acceptable - not £40 for just one.

Well they class it as an "expansion" that'll have DLC attached to itself like the first two later on down the line. I just personally can't justify the price considering what you get, although i'll get my moneys worth as i have done with Vanilla + 2 expansions. It's just through principle now, fed up of being bent over and being forced to pay stupid prices for a lack of content.

Especially more so after getting Witcher 3 for less than £40 and seeing how much fun i've had in that and i'm not even finished yet. Yeah it's a single player game but we should be paying £25-30 for the expansion or less considering the content.

Keep telling myself i'll get disappointed and always buy, so this time around i think i'll stick to my guns if they don't announce a fair bit more.

Well 3 new subclasses, two new pvp modes, 4-6 new pvp maps, 4 strikes and a raid.

Hardly worth the £40 pricetag, like a 1/3 of Vanilla and costs the same it's pretty stupid. If nothing else is added, i'll be giving TTK a miss i think.

But if you take a look at what they have done it feels like even less. One of the new PVP modes is literally just changing how quickly your super and nades charger, like what 5mins work and some testing to see how it feels done. A lot of the new enemies in the strikes and raids are the same content with a new skin on it, basically just reused all of their assests, and put a new spin on the story line.

It feels so lazy, like what the easiest thing we can do too get £40 from each of a customers. I will also most likely buy it cause I really enjoy this game right now, and starting to really get into the crucible but it feels ******, the price isn't the issue either, its just it feels like there milking their fans.

I doubt I'll bother seeing as I don't do anything that involves fireteams. So may as well put that £40 towards Star Wars: Battlefront.

Yeah i don't mind the pricetag, if it justified it but it currently doesn't a load of re-used stuff bar the subclasses, the CTF game mode and new raid boss. It should really be called a DLC and be what the others cost.

They've not quoted numbers yet but they're talking about having as much content as vanilla destiny

I'm not sure how everyone has already concluded how much content it will have. From what we've heard so far, TTK already has more content than TDB and HoW combined. On top of that Bungie have said that there's more still to be announced, so it could quite easily have similar amount of content as the base game.

I've already poured about 1000 hours into Destiny and really enjoyed my time with the game. I've played it more than any game in my life, and more than all the other Xbox One and PS4 games I have combined. If I got a quarter of those total hours out of TTK, I'll consider it money very well spent.

the thing they've said that excites me is that they've said that taken king will have more end game content and takes the focus away from "story missions" which end game players will play once but not play again. They've said they're not talking about this stuff yet and will talk about it later in the year.

Its going to be more than what we had in the previous two expansions of 3 story missions, 3 PVP maps and a Raid (in Crotas End)

There's loads they haven't talked about yet, so you can't draw conclusions on value for money yet.

Yeah basically, we don't know what is in it so any discussion about value is a waste of time. I'm not pre-ordering (I don't pre-ordering digital content as a matter of principal anyway) so I'll just wait and see, although I'm pretty sure I will be buying it. Just the subclasses, raid and PvP modes make a decent enough value proposition to me considering the playtime I get out of the game.

It's $40 for the new content and $20 for the new emotes/shaders, etc.

or $80 for all of the above plus the 2 DLC's and the base game.

They listened to the feedback but still overpriced it all anyway. New players get the best deal if you don't have destiny the best time to order it would be now. It was $80 for the game plus 2 DLC's @ launch so effectively you get the expansion, emotes, shaders, exotic class item, etc for free now if your a new buyer.

Which is expected as the older a game is the cheaper it should become to buy.

Ideally they should be giving the emotes/shaders, etc along with the $40 expansion not a seperate $20 buy.

I'll get the expansion, not so sure about the emotes, etc.

I'm not surprised that they're trying to sell the emotes.

If you read the description of the Taken King digital expansion on PSN it says that "in game purchases are optional".

I think micro transactions are coming and if the game becomes pay to win then I'm out.

Yeah theres been rumours of micro transactions coming in but unsure if its with tTK or before. They cover stuff like sparrows, shaders etc so likely only cosmetic.

Looking at Destiny its a surprise this wasnt featured earlier really. What will be funny if theres a disconnection between that pricing and those $20 CE-only items - just another ****storm waiting to happen I suspect.

ps3ud0

If it is just cosmetic then I am happy to ignore it and I am fine with it being there for the people who want it. I'm still interested enough to want to know what TTK will bring to the game. Looking forward to more content news from Bungie.

Planetside 2 is a perfect example of micro transactions done right.

That only has cosmetic upgrades and gets you stuff quicker you'd be able to get anyway within the confines of balance but saves you the grind

I think it'll possibly end up being similar to that and again that's fine as I quite enjoy the grind. So long as the items are not unobtainable - that would be bad.
